-27C at this morning

I couldn't believe myself when i saw it. It is -27C cold here at this morning. I was aware that my diesel car will net make it to start-up, but it could, so i am now safe here at work. All 33km from my home to work car still could not warm up. When i tried to turn on air conditioner motor engine temperature fell below normal. This is incredible for me now, but still its normal when i look back to previous winters in my country.
temperature below -20C will b e here for a week, so lets see how i will survive it. :D

Why i have diesel? :o strange question i think... every new diesel engine can beat benzin engines i think :| My volvo with D5 diesel engine use 5-6 litres on 100 kilometers, it have 2,4l engine, so it have pretty nice acceleration speed, also diesel engine here costs less than benzin + diesel engine car can be used to drive 1000000km while benzin engines life ends at 250000km. :)
Also diesel have 5 classes - from summer to arctic diesel which is used in those summer/winter times. Now i have winter diesel which works until -40C, but previously i used autumn diesel which could be used until temperature falls to -15C.

Every fuel company knows that there is 5 diesel types by freezing temperature level. In my country we use only first 3 and it is enough in our weather condition. There is also a biodiesel, but it must be used only for new cars since after you will add biodiesel to diesel in already working car there is very high possibility that your car high pressure pump or fuel pump will be finished!

thats very painful if you need to walk long distances in such weather. I mainly driving around with my car, so i dont have those problems which have the rest people who use public transport.

Hi iDiv,
That's cold when I consider my freezer at 16C. We have sunny weather here all year long and how I just wish that our 30C-38C would just drop a couple of degrees lower. Anyway we get that when the rains come and the temp goes down to tolerable levels.
I think more energy is needed to get hot than to get cold. Consider the heating mechanism of your house and the car, not to count the calories of your body just to maintain the proper temperature. We just get that here by a simple dip in the water or going under the shade of a tree, or a simple fan that doesn't even cost a single cent, or just going around with almost no clothing at all. Our houses are makeshift just to keep out the sun, the rain and the mosquitoes, and that's all.
You should consider living here.

yeah, in some areas temperature fell below -30 this night. i hope it will not repeat again.
