The history says Buddhism is 500 BC before Christianity. I was wondering, if Buddhism first came before Christianity then, why Buddhist Sacred Teachings (Buddhist Bible) and Christian bible is quite similar? I have read some Christian bible and Buddhist bible verses and they are quite the same or I rather say, they are the same, but the biggest religion denomination is Christianity. I just forgot the links and I accidentally saw them while I was surfing on the internet... if only I could find it again in search engine. Does it mean, the Christian bible copied some of the verses in the Buddhist Bible or... I do not know. I just want to know. Anyone?

The first 3 books (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus) of the Bible were written around 1512 BC. So part of the Bible goes way back. Many of the things Jesus said were repetitions of the earlier Scriptures. What Jesus taught were universal thruths that are also found in other religions. Christians who really follow what Jesus commanded are actually very few. Jesus said to love our enemies. How many people are doing that? Matthew 5:43-48 (New International Version, ©2010) 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

The Bible is a compilations of Books. The Old Testaments contains very ancient books and scriptures from past culture generations to another culture. The concepts and principles was not copied, primarily these are all what we wanted and needed of our spiritual destiny pathways. Because we are all spiritual cosmic beings embodied physically to materialized in this realm we are striving to live life. We all did our spiritual paths long before mankind popular cultural history. Buddha has the spiritual consciousness of Christianity. Christianity was already been existed long ago. Only when on the time of Jesus Christ, Christianity started or began to matured. The fruits from the tree of wisdom on the Old Testament was been ripen in the New Testament. What was has been on the Old Testaments are all of our old spiritual path to Christianity. Buddhism, Islam, Jews, Hindu, Paganisms, Atheisms are all part of the Old Testaments. The New Testaments are our missing link or the complete answers to narrowed enlightened pathways of our Spiritual life consciousness. For my own personal opinion anybody can be a Christians Spiritually consciousness and awareness whether your a Buddhist, Moslem, Jewish, Hindu, Pagan, Atheist and others.

If you search the net, you’ll find plenty of sites where it is mentioned that during his growing years, Jesus is supposed to have travelled east with the caravans and spent a considerable time, taking in eastern philosophy. Though its all conjecture (you’ll find some ‘proofs’ too), yet its true that the holy books do not say anything about Jesus’s life from his teenage years to the time he took to preaching. Maybe he did visit the east and his thus his teachings seem to be heavily influenced by eastern philosophy.

That's only you opinion, if there's no any other words found regarding to where Jesus stays during His teenage, so let it be none because the bible says if you add or deduct any word from it are subject for punishment, so its better not to judge the holy bible,

Contradictions? Like eye witness accounts (the gospels) differing? Like geneologies likely taken from the records of men differing? Or like saying 'don't call someone a fool' in one place in the bible, and 'call a fool a fool so he will mend his ways' in another place in the bible.. baffling contradictions to those favoring contradictions, but simply wisdom to others. Sometimes you should not scold a fool, won't do any good, leave him to his foolishness. And other times, a word or two is exactly what is most called for.. Others like to say the bible said the world is flat because Jesus said "the four corners of the earth" - dah.. the four directions... The truth is the Bible long ago said "circuit of the sun" (circle, cycle) when other nations believed the world was supported on the back of Atlas or a Turtle or Elephant.. But all these are passed on mouth to mouth by those who like to do so, without their ever reading the bible books(chapters) for themselves, especially those very slim gospel accounts.. And thus make a big deal out of one saying 'we noticed the withered tree on our way back the next morning' and another saying 'we noticed the withered tree that evening on our way back'.. Memories differ. They always do and we are highly suspicious when they don't! The gospels were written like 30 years after the fact, and that was the earliest written one, others were written even longer after the events they witnessed, then they all (minus one) gave their lives for those testimonies, hard to imagine one dying for a bunch of lies, 30+ years later! (This 'withering tree' is a true example, concerning witnessing Jesus curse a tree and hours later seeing the tree, and both accounts say 'the tree was completely withered right down to the roots'.) blessings!

Stine made the correct statement, the Old Testament is older, but which book is debatable, some say it is Job. But the beginnings are in the Torah, (the first 5 books of the bible, the one that has our instructions in it, some of which still pertain to today and many "Christians" have turned away from even though Jesus never get rid of them) In fact, if you read all kinds of religious material, even the Koran, the Muslim reading, has things from the Old Testament. The New Testament is a continuation of the Old, but most other religions have gotten some of their readings from the Old Testament.

Absolutely not, there's no any other book as old as the holy bible, if you think the Christians make a copy which related to buddhism are completely false, truly the bible says that if you add or deduct any words from it are punishable, so be careful of doing such things, during our days or I can say its a last days that many have come to prophesise regarding His holy Words and most of them are false prophet that leads to decieve the many, truly most the people walk on the wide road than the narrow one, so be wise because Jesus is coming very soon. God bless you.

'Evolution' is a joke people only believe because of the intense indoctrination and ridicule if one actually looks into it and finds one of the many gaping holes.. An adult fairy tale of epic proportions..

I am actually practicing mediation and some Buddhist beliefs, and yes they have some Christian beliefs in them, but there are some differences. They don't really believe in a God, so to speak. Buddha was enlightened, but not a god. They believe that people can be enlightened and find inner peace. The Christians didn't copy the Bible from any Buddhist teachings, their religion was on a completely separate path. Although, if you look at Jesus, he is very similar to Buddha.

As Chiang said "The first and most obvious is that there is really no single book that can be singled out as a Buddhist equivalent of the bible"...There is NO "Buddhist Bible" or anything of the sort really. There is his teachings, his suggestions on how to live a more peaceful life, how to live more peacefully with others, how to attain enlightenment etc etc but NEVER did he claim that his way was THE way nor did he "command" others to do as his did, worship him or pay the price, bow to his every whim etc etc...He shared with others what worked for him and thats it. As for whether or not the Christian bible is copied from Buddhas teachings...well in all honesty does it really matter?

While there is some superficial similarities there is a vast difference between the Christian Bible and Buddhist text. The first and most obvious is that there is really no single book that can be singled out as a Buddhist equivalent of the bible. The bible is a collection of stories that layout the history of the Jewish people and in the New Testament the story of Jesus. The Buddhist texts in existence are primarily concerned with the teaching of the Buddha, not his history. The bible lists laws and pronouncements that you must follow if you are to have a relationship with the Jewish god. In Buddhism there are no laws only suggestions as to practices that can improve the quality of your life. The bible states that you shall follow the commandments that it contains while the Buddha asked that you question everything and live as you see fit. The Christian bible claims a path to salvation while in the teaching of the Buddha there is nothing to be saved from and as a result no need for salvation. There are many more difference but these are some of the primary ones that come to mind.

We all seem to think that cultures were all self contained back them. That has never been the way of the world since the beginning of time. People travel, influence each other. Sure lots were just in the form of stories, however tell a good story today and see how fast and far it can really travel.Of course communications are lots faster today but I bet with little entertainment back then, stories were cherished and spread. Look! Here comes a stranger!! I bet he has a story to tell!!
