Last time I went to renew my permit and have my picture taken, I was surprised to find out that they didnt want us to smile. Ive always been smiling on my picture and this is how I look most of the time to begin with. I was standing there with my best smile when this sour-puss-faced woman told me to wipe the smile off my face !!!!!! Of course I lost my smile instantly and thats when she snapped the picture. I just stood there in shock and asked her to see my picture. To my horror, I had this look on my face as if I just saw a monster or an alien from another world!!! I told her that this picture wasnt me at all and I asked her if we could take another one. I also asked her WHY on earth she told me to wipe the smile off my face. She said it was the new rules !!!!! She refused to take another picture. I cut off the old one and scotch taped it over the present one. F*ck her!! Last week on the news, this woman was complaining because they asked her to take off a clip she had in her hair. Now I think they're going way off board here. How is it where you live, do they want you to NOT smile and NOT have anything in your hair??

My Mum said she wasn't allowed to smile for her bus pass and I think it's the same for passports now as well. It's ridiculous, isn't it? Whenever we have our photo taken we smile, it's a normal reaction. To be told not to smile because of new rules is alien to us and we don't like it. There is a reason why we're not allowed to smile but it escapes me, perhaps someone else knows. In the meantime

The madness may have started HERE, then it caught on over THERE lol. Seems feasible to me as the whole world has gone stark raving mad!

You're right about the world going mad. Geez listen to the news lately and it seems like something is bound to give eventually. Im starting to want to look for a hole and hide for a while. Well shoo on you for starting this madness and shoo on us for picking it up. Those in power need to get out of their tiny, windowless offices and look for other people to nag. Thanks!!

The smile, I think I understand, but the clip??? Anyways, about the smile, in our country, we are not allowed to smile for passport pictures, so I got curious and I had to ask the guy behind the computer. He said there is something about the teeth showing while we smile that sort of changes that way we look. (Well, of course, makes us look better right?) So, we are not allowed to smile in the picture so that people can easily compare our picture with our faces when we are in line at the airport(meaning we don't normally just smile at strangers hehehehe) I guess same goes with traffic enforcers, we don't usually smile when we get flagged down for something hehe

Sometimes I feel as if they're trying to make our lives miserable for nothing. Im not looking forward to have mine taken again this year. Thanks for sharing!
