It´s colder than -30C or colder than -21F! It is OK to be outside for a little while, when there is almost no wind like it was this evening and the moon was fantastic tonight.
I have lived near the Arctic Circle for almost 30 years, and February has often been very cold. When March comes, the sun already warms during the day, so it´s a great time and many go skiing. You need to protect your eyes, as the extremely white snow reflects the sun.
What is the coldest weather on the place where you live??

That´s a completely different climate!
I have often thought of moving further south, but I am still here! The summers are so great up here, midningt sun and all the rest. But maybe I should do like the migratory birds - go south during winter.. Would cost too much though..
Better wait for the Sprig to come..

Well, that is really cold! I guess you are used to extreme temperatures..
I hope you have heated houses and a good air conditioning during summer!

Well, your place is definitely warmer than ours..
The sun is shining and it´s a little warmer now but still about -22C but I got inspired last night and did a little research about the Norwegian Forest Cat and wrote an article in Triond!! Something useful accomplshed!
This cat has an amazing fur coat, water proof and very soft. No wonder it can be outdoors in our harsh climate..and it even catches fish in streams and lakes!!
Still - if we hadn´t the warm Gulf Stream outside the Norwegian Coast, we would probably not be able to live in this place. It might be much colder, like in Siberia.
Have a great spring! And give a hug to your cats from me!

It got into the 20's (F) here once a long time ago, but that is very unusual as where I live it people usually complain that it is too hot rather than too cold. We do enjoy seeing snow on the nearby mountain top though, and a short drive UP the mountain puts us in the snow if we want to play in it. I'll pass.

Hi, Ann
That sounds good, you can choose when to enjoy the snow! But cold weather has some advantages, you can put on as much clothes as you want to, and still feel comfortable - but it can be a bit more tricky to cope with the heat - unless you are indoors with an air conditioner..

The coldest it gets in Winter where I live is about -2C just before dawn. That is considered by many of us as extremeweather as most people in my city (including yself and my 86 year old mom) don´t have central Heating.
We don´t usually have snow but it rains and there are those depressing gray days. I usually use a lot of warm clothes insde the house and outside. If I put on enough clothes, I can save a lot on gas for the heaters. All this happens when you are in Summer: I live in Chile, South America and the sun is shining now.

Yeah, I know you have summer now.. I have followed your gardening while we have lots of snow here!!
I guess we would not survive without central heating!
I was in Spain one January, and have never frozen so much - it was due to the humidity as I was at the Mediterranean Sea. Still it was around +8C when it was the coldest. During most days it was +15 and that was OK.
I hope you have a nice and warm autumn ahead of you!

...Hi buenavida, I admire you for enduring such cold weather. I live in New Jersey and last week it was below 0 here and more than cold. In fact one of my pipes froze and gallons of water were flowing out. Right now I am thrilled because it is much warmer and sunny and it also feels as though we may have an early spring. Fingers crossed. I am not a snow bird "o), though I love to look at the snow through the window while I am warm. Take it easy.

Hi, artistry
I guess we are kind of used to big differencies in weather. Sometimes I have thought of moving somewhere - to a warmer place, but don´t know where yet..
The advantage here might be that the air is rather dry and doesn´t feel that cold and the houses are built for cold weather. So it is rather OK indoors..
Our spring starts next month, with a little warmer temperature and lots of sunlight, as the snow reflects the sun too. Great for skiing..
Take care my friend and enjoy the sun!!

I know it can be very cold in Canada too, you seem to have ice storms and things like that.
Some places, not so far from here, it is also over -40C but somehow, as we live so far in the north, we manage to survive here. It is much thanks to the Gulf Stream, the warm stream in the Athlantic Ocean that keeps us from freezing completely.
Well, I think you too are looking forward to the Spring soon!

I lived nearly 30 years in the Southwest where the temps rarely went below freezing but the summer temps were in excess of 115°. Now I'm home at last in the Midwest and the coldest it has gotten this year is 1° but winter temps are usually higher than that.
I much prefer the 1° to 115°! And four seasons are great.

Yes, dragon you are right, four seasons with a bit moderate temperature is great. It is not necessary to travel as the change is included in the climate!!
You seem to have survived, 30 years is a long time. +115F sounds extremely hot! - I prefer four seasons including winter too.

-30C° ... Alter Schwede!!! man that is cold. The lowest temperature I've ever witnessed or let's say what people have told me - as I was a child at the time - was -24°C back in 1982/83. Last year it was -17°C while the years between 1984 and 2008 were much warmer, I think -11°C was among the coldest temperature during that time.
Is the temperature you are having there a record temperature or when have you witnessed the same or even colder temperatures?
Cheers

The coldest temperature I have experienced was around -43C
It was in the end of the 90s. We have had rather warm winters during many years, so this time we are back to the 80s - Some winters have had long periods of -30C, and often in February.
So this is not so unusual here, but we are looking forward to warmer times in March.
The sprig can be fantastic here..
