Do you use fabric softener in laundry?

I use fabric softener, specifically Downy, in my laundry because ironing clothes become easier than laundries that doesn't have any softener. Besides the good smell it gives, there are variants which acts as mosquito repellent and water saver. But I knew families who doesn't use these products because of rhinitis or allergy, they got colds when they smell something uncomfortable with their sense of smell. Do you use fabric softener in your laundry? what benefit do you get from using it?
