best drum machine software/freeware?

i'm with a band right now, and i'm trying to create a song which we'll be jamming around this week or next week. my problem is i don't know what software/freeware i could use to create drum beats to match with what i've been composing in guitar. one friend of mine introduced to me a software which name i don't remember that is used for creating drum beats but that was rather very complicated for me to use, so i'm seeking for a really easy to use software or freeware so that i could further with my composition. we're not a pro band, but i'm very eager in exploring many things such as this so can anyone suggest a good program i could use.. i've come across different software reviews but i'm trying to get one specifically from a user himself so as to determine actual program user-friendliness level.
