I can not see why some people pay for takeaways as you can now get a meal for two or a meal for four for alot less than half the price from the shops, also you can get loads of quick fast food that you do in microwaves, so what is the point in throwing money down the drain, week in week out.

I think that it is a great way to treat yourself once in a while, but it costs alot of money, where as the money that you have spent on a takeaway, you could have bought alot of quick reheatable foods from the super market.I think that it is great that there are alot of quick meals that we can buy from a supermarket that taste just as good from a takeaway.

This is what we call here in the Philippines as takeout food. Maybe, because we are in a rush and we do not have enough time to prepare for a decent meal that is why takeouts are the best handy thing there is for a hungry stomach.
Besides, the price of takeout food is no difference from the price when we eat them right there in the resto where we buy it. We don not pay extra for takeouts and we do not often do that. It is either, we eat at the resto, unless we are having a long trip and we do not want any delays. So we takeout food and eat them in the car while we continue our way.
Takeouts/takeaways are for convenience. Nothing else. And in order to get a little convenience from time to time, we have no choice but to pay its price.

I think that it costs alot of money to keep getting takeaways and that if people are doing over time or extra hours for extra money then to me it is defeating the object spending all the earnings on things like that.I tend to get cheap quick meals that can be heated up what you buy at the super markets.

Well for many people it often boils down to time, or lack of, so for many people the quickest thing is to just go thru the drive thru of a Fast Food joint like McDonalds or such and get something quick to eat instead of making sure you bring something to eat with you that you might be able to heat up later in the microwave as well. If they are single and working more than one job, they might find this just easier for sure. It would be easier buying in bulk to have leftovers for a bit, or making food and having left overs but it all depends on time.

Well I try to take my lunch everyday to work because it can be expensive to be eating out at the fast food places everyday, but once in a while if I don't feel like cooking I will order something from a fast food place. But not very often. I like microwave foods, my husband does not but then when there is nothing here to cook he asks me if we have anything for the microwave. Go figure?

I was a little bit confused at first because I thought that you were talking about leftovers when you go out to eat at first, however, it is clear to me now that you weren't talking about that. Our famiy will do carry-out from time to time when I don't feel like cooking. The thing that I don't like about it is that it is fairly expensive to dine this way. I think that the reason that most people depend on this is because of the fact that they don't have the time in their schedule to prepare a proper meal.

It's the convenience factor. of course if people wanted to they could find the time to go grocery shopping and cook (and pack lunches instead of going out for lunch) but it has to do with laziness. I had takeout on friday, while I took my lunch break at work. I don't mind spending money every once in a while on fast food or takeout - but I try not to do it every day - as it definitely adds up!
