Making Sails! / myLot

I want to learn to sew sails so I can move to the islands and get a job sewing sails. Theres a lot of jobs for this field and I want to move so bad that I am willing leave everything I have now to learn how to make sails. Does anyone here know the inns and outs of sail making?

I have never even thought about that, isn't it strange how we take things for granted, I honestly never thought that somewhere in the world there are people sewing those big sails...interesting profession...

Thank you, for your nice reply, and that is true not very many people know that their are people that have to mend sails and make new ones. I actually ran across the idea when I was searching for jobs in Puerto Rico, and when I started looking in to it, my thoughts just went into overdrive and I could totally see a future with a some sort of actual fulfilling life. I used to sail when i was a kid and have been wanting to get back into it for several years now, so I figure making sails would get me back around that atmosphere again.
