I'm super excited so I thought I would share with you my 'good' news. Now, I still believe I have adequate (not amazing) credit but I was happy to see that my score increased by 23 points over the past few months - as I've been working my butt off to get out of debt! I have about $500 of credit card debt left.. And I plan on knocking that out soon. I'm just much more motivated to get out of debt completely now, knowing that it's affecting my score positively!!! Has your credit score gone up lately??

Hey there cutie hun. I'm glad you are paying off your debts. That's really cool, and you'll be more wealthy in the future because of it :) However, I hate to take away a tiny bit of your excitement... but the reason your score is going up, is because the banks are making money off you. (because you are paying them) My credit score is really low. The reason is, I went on the same journey you are on right now. I... PAID OFF ALL MY DEBT! But... since I don't have any debt, I'm not paying the banks anything. Since I'm not paying the banks anything... my credit score is really low. That's what a credit score is. It's not for you, it's for the banks, so they know how much money they can make off of you. The higher your credit score, the more rich the banks are getting. I do not have any debt anywhere. I don't owe anyone anything. I have no credit cards, or loans. My car is paid for. And amazingly instead of a credit score... I HAVE MONEY!!! I encourage you to continue on your quest! Get rid of all those loans!! When those Capital One credit card commercials come on, and they ask "What do you have in your wallet?" I yell... MONEY!!! Go for it! It's the best way to live. I'll never go back to credit cards!

I am trying to obtain copies of my credit reports so I can clean up my credit score. My scores are not all that great and I know I owe some debt. I am going to write to the three credit bureaus to get copies so I can see what debts I can pay off and which ones will have to wait. I am also looking for work, but may have to wait because of my husband's health.

No, I don't believe my credit has gone up a bit. As I am trying my butt off to improve it. I was undermined by my friend, who scam me into this credit mess. I hope that I can get out of debt as soon as possible too. I hate to carry massive amount of debt too. As I am trying to make it out of it as soon as possible.

Yeah I have finally gotten over the 'magical' 800 number... after being in the 400s 7 years ago. I have to believe that from what I have read that credit scores are being skewed more towards the high side but I am not one to know. Great to hear you are over 600! Get that credit card debt paid off and watch your credit soar! Great discussion Zelo

Hi. maezee. Congratulations on your credit score going up! Hooray to you, maezee! I am glad to hear this. My credit score has not went up at all yet. It is in the 400 range. Hopefully, someday it can increase in a couple of more hundreds. It is very wise that you have taken the effort and persistence to bring it up. Great Job, maezee!

That is fantastic!! I bet it felt good to see that number change in the right direction. :-) Where did you see your credit score? I need to check mine again. I haven't done it in a while. I have been doing really well with paying off my cards though, so my credit should still be excellent! Thanks for the reminder to check that number and again - kudos to you!! :-)

Congrats first of all!!!How long did it take for your credit score to go up. I was told to check about every six months. This month is my last month for my car payment and I paid that over the last 5 years so now that will be off my credit but I am not sure since I have never been late will that increase it.

I had the same lofty goal! To increase my credit score. Unfortunately, after the Christmas holidays, I think my score shot down steeply. It has been one setback to another. But today, a door was opened which could possibly help my credit score again. Hopefully everything goes my way.

Quite an opposite from your situation. While I was trying my butts off to knock off the credit debt I have, more debt is on my head, due to my misfortune, and my mistrust on my dear friend. Who scam me, and make me indebted on this Discover card debt. Gosh, I just don't know how I am gonna get out of it. My score is dropping to 653. Now, the bank was garnished by the debtor too.

Congratulations!! I hope you get out of your credit card debt soon. Sorry, but I can't help but point out that 713 minus 680 is 33 not 23.
