My son started drooling when he turned 2 and a half months old til now he is still doing that. I wonder if that means he is teething already? Besides, he likes to chew on his fingers a lot, is it a problem? He doesn't like the pacifier very much though, when he does take the pacifier, it means he wants to sleep.

Hi, From my own experience, my boy start teething when he reached 5 months old. He shows the symptons of keep drooling and wanna bite things and put things to his mouth, I guess because his gums start to get itchy. So far, I never came across that small baby will start teething at such young ages, less than 4 months old. But magical is works...so if that is the teething sign, then it is good. You can always get teether for your son to play around,at least he is not chewing his own fingers which is dirty. My son does not take pacifier at all throughout his whole journey, I don't want him to have this habit as it is not easy to wean off in future.

He is 5 months old now, I guess it makes sense that he started doning it since when he was 2 months old because my mom said it could take a long time for their first teeth to show up.

I think each baby is different. All three of my kids didn't get their first tooth till 3 or 4 months of age. Maybe even 5 months. I have it written down somewhere lol. I've seen baby's chew on things and drool for months before they get teeth. It's possible he's teething. As long as it doesn't seem to be bothering him, I wouldn't worry about it.

Drooling doesn't mean he's about to teeth. The drooling will stop once he has teeth. Well, chewing on their fingers - all kids do that!~ Haha!~I always tell my wife - see, he's chewing on his chicken drumstick again, haha!~Our son doesn't take the pacifier as I told my wife not to give him any since birth.

drooling usually means teething. Sometimes it takes awhile for the first one to pop out. My youngest never liked a pacifer. She would such her thumb.

I think it just feels more natural to them than a rubber nipple. When she was really hungry she would such both thumbs at the same time. She actually didnt stop until she started going to school. But of coarse she did it alot less as time passed. I know they say that it will make their teeth grow crocked but hers are just fine.

3 months? Is that early or normal?

Ivy- There is no "normal" for children. There are averages but even doctors will tell you that each child is unique. If your child is breaking teeth than he is breaking teeth. Just go with it. Don't worry so much about if it is normal or not. You're not going to stop it. Namaste-Anora

I am really not sure when did my son actually started teething but if I remember it right, around 5months or so. But he's already turning 8months old now and there's no teeth yet, think it depends and might be different for every baby. As observed from my eldest he lost his appetite when his teeth started to pop out.

Yes! And drools all the time! Almost the same as described above. He eats not only his fingers but sometimes his knuckles too and sometimes likes to chew his soft toys.

my baby is 4 months and i'm not seeing any sign that she is teething. well, instead of thumb sucking, she would suck her whole hand. is that a sign she is already teething?

He used to eat his whole hand as well, I think back then he was acknowledging that he has hands and he just put the whole thing into his mouth but now, he knows he can only eat his finer.
