Having a friend or two over this evening for movies. i thought i'd do some cooking this afternoon and try and provide something to eat that isn't just the standard popcorn and crisps. any suggestions?

Cider and apples, hot chocolate or tea and petit cakes, onion rings and soda, depends on what your company likes.

yeah i decided to make some cakes... the kitchen smells lovely! not sure on the onion rings but a good pot of tea or a nice glass of hot apple or cider is right up my street!

Sounds wonderful! Wish I had been there. Onion rings aren't for everyone, I just love them.

Hi. gfee01. I think that you should bake some grilled chicken. Some party sized wings would be delicious. Celery and carrots, brocolli and cauliflower and dip would be yummy too. And, Sun Chips with veggie dip would be very yummy. Have Fun!

Ham and Swiss butterhorn roll-ups are good and easy to serve. Serve them up with dijon or brown mustard, or plain with steamy mugs of hot cocoa. Delicious change of pace.

Go to the store and get some frozen wings or something like that. Throw in some mozzarella cheese you can get spinach dip and do that. After that is all gone bring out some strawberries you cut up and have that as that is always a good thing to have. You can get some grapes and put them on a toothpick as that is always a favorite that i do. Another is little pizza bites or pizza rolls that are always good to have out or even pizza strips if you can find that. Just wakling through the frozen food section of where you are would be good. You can make some little cupcakes or even a cake to have and add some fruit to it or make some cookies real quick too. Plenty of things to do and goodluck and have fun.

I read your post when it was too late but decided to answer it anyway. Maybe you can use other ideas for other gettogethers. I like to make small bit size sandwichs. I made several kinds of different colours. One ia done with schreded lettuce and mayo. I also make mashed hard boiled eggs (with mayo and a bit of mustard). If I have some boiled chichen I mince it finelly and also mince some canned red sweet peppers (that is also held together with a bit of mayo). For sweets I´d melt some chocolate and have strawberries and grapes as in a fondue.

thankyou for answering. I'm going to have another movie night soon as we didn't get to see everything. Sadly i can't eat Mayo, but the fondue is an amazing idea, and i had never thought of it for movie nights but it would be perfect, i'll definatly use that idea soon.

good for you guys!if you want to have something light for a snack, maybe you can try to make a simple salad. its with sliced red tomatoes, sliced roasted bell peppers, mozzarella cheese cut into cubes, a little bit of basil and bacon bits and balsamic vinegrette!that would be something nice to serve. i learned that recipe from an aunt recently and it was delicious. maybe you could also serve it with toasted garlic bread too!enjoy your night!
