Have you ever gotten a professional massage?

I'm getting one today. It will be my first. For Valentine's Day hubby got me a gift certificate to a spa, and made this appointment for me to get a massage and hair cut (because I've been complaining for months that I needed a hair cut!). So as soon as he's home from getting his car inspected, I'm off for a massage. I'd be looking so much more forward to it if I didn't have to be to work today at 4pm. I sort of feel like I'm on a time crunch.. the 1 hour massage at 12:30, then a hair cut, then I have to rush home to get ready for work.. ugh. I get anxious when I feel like I'm on a time crunch. Hopefully I can forget about it for a little while to enjoy my massage. Have you ever gotten a professional massage? Did you enjoy it? If you've never had one, would you like to?

You and one of my close friends have both had the opportunity this week to get a professional massage and I have to admit that I am jealous of you both. I've never had a professional massage in my life, but I know that it is something that I would be very interested in having done. There is actually a massage therapy school here in town where you can get a semiprofessional massage done by the students for a very reasonable amount of money and that is what I am thinking about doing.

Oh gosh yes and they have all to date been wonderful I remember my first time I was a bit uncomfortable as I normally do not have a stranger tough my body, but the woman was so nice and her hands massaged, especially my achy back which she was able to get me to relax. At first I was really tense and not really able to enjoy it and she kept telling which parts near my shoulders were really tense, as she pointed them out I could tell she was right. You will love it, and when you are done you come out like if you are walking on clouds.

I was so relaxed I almost fell asleep, and I did feel a little drowsy when it was over.

I've never gotten a professional massage. I don't care for the ones my hubby gives as I only ask if my shoulders are really hurting even then it's a hit or miss if he'll do it for me. I don't think I'd ever go for a real one though, between the cost and this waistline.

My hubby gives terrible massages.. he's too rough and it hurts more than it helps. I must be used to it though because this massage didn't feel like she was putting enough pressure on my muscles, except for the ones that were sore from knots. It was wonderful! Don't worry about your waistline.. if you can ever afford to get one, go and do not be self concious, it's a great experience!

I hope you enjoyed the experience first of all and it wasn't too rushed! I have had one but, personally it is not the way I prefer to relax as I don't ever really feel comfortable! Lol Haircut yes but, massage not for me - well not from strangers anyways! Lol x

He scheduled it for his day off so I wouldn't have to worry about a sitter.. and I didn't know I'd be working when he scheduled it. Oh well.. I was out of there in plenty of time to get to work. Besides, going to work is often less stressful than being home with all these kids, LOL.

Yeas, I have gotten a professional massage 2 or 3 times... it was wonderful! It was not cheap though... I felt a lot better after that. I remember that hour went through really fast, when she was done, I was like "done alreaday?" I could hear crunch crunch crunch when she was rubbing some very stiff spots on my back. I really enjoyed it, I hope I can get it again when I go back home.

I had a foot massage done last December as a sort of pampering gift for myself. It was a little expensive but it was worth the experience. I just didn't like the transitions from the warm foot soak to the cold cream or oil that they used. But it was a pleasurable experience for me because I was relaxed afterwards.

My massage included a heat wrap, which helped relax me. The warmth almost put me to sleep. But I too did feel really cold after they took the heat wrap off!

That's really cool. I have had two professional massages, but I didn't really "enjoy" them in the way most people do. A lady in my church is a professional masseuse (or is it massause?). Anyway, she's always telling me and my mom she'll give us a massage for free. But her work is a long way away, and you have to drive through a lot of traffic. My mom has gone before, but my dad took her so the drive home wouldn't "undo" the work of the massage. Well, one night I got another migraine. I had been to the ER the night prior for a migraine I had had for 4 days. When it came back I was upset because the hospital just isn't go to believe me coming there twice in two days. So my dad called the lady and she was still at work. My dad drove me over there, and she worked on me for two hours. I fell asleep once, and when she was done, my migraine was gone. About two months later I had a migraine that wouldn't go away, so again I went to see her. She worked on me three hours, and it didn't do a thing. SHE was more upset than I was. I tried to tell her I should just go to the hospital after an hour went by and the pain didn't subside. But the poor lady tried for three whole hours. I did end up in the ER again that night. They finally got rid of it with morphine. Which is not what they want to give people for migraines. Now I want a massage for when I'm okay. I'd love to go get one with no reason other than it would feel good. You're a mom, so you could REALLY use it.

I'm glad it helped the first time.. and sorry it didn't help the second time. I also got a heat wrap, which was sooo relaxing! Though I've never had a migraine as bad as yours, when I do get headaches or migraines I like putting ice on my eyes. I have a special eye mask that has aromatherapy stuff in it and you can either freeze it or heat it up.. and I always freeze it.. feels great on a headache!

Sorry I took so long to respond to this but now you've already had your message, right? I've had one once and it was only for 20 or 25 minutes. I LOVED it and wish it would have been much longer. I felt so relaxed and my muscles felt so much better after it was incredible. I actually won it at my grandkids' Midget Football banquet so I didn't have to pay and I haven't really felt that I should spend the money on it since, but I just might decide to treat myself soon! I will probably do this again in the future, because it did feel great and was so relaxing.. but it won't be more than once or twice a year most likely.

I get anxious when I'm in a time crunch like that as well. Hopefully you will enjoy your massage. I have never had one. I wish someone would buy me a gift certificate for one lol. I am not a professional but I am always giving my friend a massage when he is over. Maybe you could have had the massage on a different day when you didnt have to rush so much so you could enjoy the relaxation from it more?

Hubby scheduled it on his day off so I would not have to worry about a sitter.. and our schedules for my job are only posted a couple of days in advance.. so I don't get a lot of notice. Now if I'd been smart I would have requested the day off, since I knew about this appointment since Valentine's day.. but I never thought to ask for it off. Next time I will.

I've had a quite a few, though none for a long time. When I was pregnant with my first I went to a spa for a whole weekend which was marvellous. Sometimes you can feel quite dizzy after a massage so it is probably just as well you have your hair cut to enjoy as well before you have to start getting ready for work.

In fact my goal is to earn so much money that I can open a chain o spas all over the world so that wherever I go I can get a massage every hour of the day.. everyday! I often bully my little sister to give me massages. I know its cruel of me but I just can't help it. hehehe!

I've never had a professional massage either. I wanted to go to this little spa in Berkley Springs, West Virginia but I haven't made it there yet. I wish my husband would think to do something sweet like that for me. I've talked to people that have gotten a massage and they loved it. They said it made them feel like butter lol. I'm hoping maybe my best friend would be up for a girls weekend at the spa I was talking about and then I'll get one.

I have had a couple massages in life. Some are at local spas around town and i love them because it really does feel really good. I have such a bad back and im always hurting so it feels good to have them done a couple times a year. I have also had a couple done on cruises and cant wait till May to get one done again on a cruise. They are so nice and just so relxing to have and you forget about things and then the rest of the day is rush rush to get things done but while you are there they are a nice thing.

I've had quite a few. One woman's hands were so soft that I had a hard time breathing. I've also has coworkers give me relaxing massages. One night I came back to work. This woman I knew came into the room and said, "welcome back Rob." She was so good that I couldn't think of how to fill out my application nor field questions about Ohio State vs Michigan in football that some guys were asking me.

I love taking a body massage. It really relaxes your body and a very good stress reliever. Unfortunately, I can't afford it on a regular basis. Actually I usually get it for free whenever my brother goes home from work overseas. He usually treats me to a spa. But if it was my own money, I don't avail of it. I think if you have a family of your own you would prioritize other things to spend your money on rather than treating yourself to a spa. Although, I think it is a good way of rewarding yourselves.

I have had a professional massage twice already. The first one, I was too tense. It was my first time and even though I was in a 5 star spa, I still felt shy and uneasy towards the staff because I though they didnt know what they were doing and that they didnt have any training whatsoever. So I was tense the whole time. Despite that, it felt really great. They were able to un-tense my body and relax my muscles. The masseuse even said I fell asleep for a while. The second time, I knew better. I was relaxed and my goal was just to detoxify and to enjoy myself. Enjoy the pampering. It felt wonderful. A rejuvenating feeling indeed. After that I went for a manicure and pedicure plus hot oil. It was a "me" day that time. Oh, how I envy you that you're going to the spa right now... I wish I could go back. I need a massage badly.

I almost fell asleep, it was very relaxing. I was also a little bit nervous, only because I was being too self concious.
