In the past couple of days I am suddenly getting calls from an unknown that shows the telephone number as a V + 14 numbers. When I checked the computer for 'V' numbers, I was told this is a particular virtual telephone number from the Ukraine, but V numbers known as Vumbers are available to anyone. Evidently they attach the V and several digits to your own number.
I belive this is a scam from this particular number since I know of no one in the Ukraine.
Anyone else gotten these weird calls? Or, do you know of any scams regarding these numbers?
I try to get my daughter to not answer the telephone, but she doesn't understand why and continues to answer them.

Turns out the Vumbers are actually considered the NAMES of the person or business calling.
The ones that came to me were V0425202551009 and V03071018320004 and V04271931490010 and others. So, they are not all the same ones.

I have never heard of Vumbers but I have also recieved such calls like you in past time. I stay in India and here code start with +91. Some time I recieve call from some unknown numbers and digits are just 4 or 5 in numbers which can't be possible in India..
Some unknown langauge and even some time it get disconnected after recieving...
I remember my time in engineering when I was very much disturbed from one particular number which used to ring me all the time when I used to recieve it used to disconnect like oposite person is trying to give me a miss call..
I got disturbed for 3 days and still this is a mystery for me...
Thanks..

My brother has been getting collection calls for another person who owned his business phone number 23 years ago! They are persistent, if nothing else. When that started happening to me, I changed numbers until I got one no collection calls came to. It's amazing how many people can't or won't pay their bills. I know with our current economy, it is extremely difficult for those who have lost one or more jobs in their family. Yet, they seem to be the ones trying the hardest to keep their bills paid. I applaud their efforts and do whatever I can to help those who hit hard times.
I can't give money, but I can sometimes give good furniture or food and little used clothing.
It's good to see you again, sincere4frdship. Thank you for answering this post.
Hugs,

I have had my share of weird calls in my life, lol.. But about a month ago I found truly odd was that I received on my cell phone a call that only had 2 digits and I thought to myself as I looked on my screen, how the heck can someone have 2 digits.
So I did not answer. About 20 minutes later same 2 digits so I had to answer and see what it was about. As soon as I said hello it was like someone was still dialing. I kept hearing the beeps from the pressing of telephone numbers. The more I said hello the more I received the dialing.
So after I hung up I called my cell phone company and they say nothing on their end comes up and the bizarre thing is that when I got my cell phone bill I checked and the two numbers do come up as a received call, so curiosity killed me and I went online and was told telemarketer are now disguising their numbers.
I have not received anymore since but what is odd is that my cell phone company can only confirm that it was an unknown number according to their records.

Hmmm, maybe it's telemarketers here, too. The vumbers are very real as I read several articles about them online.
I refuse to answer any number that looks totally weird. There are too many ways scammers from other countries can charge you without your knowledge. Thanks for the feedback.
Maggie
