Feng shui - for a better standard of life?

Feng Shui - the ancient Chinese system of blending heaven (astrology) and Earth (geography) together to improve ones living standard by dispelling negative forces and replacing them with positivity. The literal translation of "Feng Shui" means "wind-water." Many Asian companies consult Feng Shui experts before either building or moving into offices. They also, incorporate in the lobby or the outer forecourt, more often than not, some kind of water feature. Feng Shui believers give a lot of importance to the ying and yang and the four celestial animals - The Green Dragon (East), The Red Phoenix (South), The White Tiger (West) and The Dark Turtle (North). Have you, or anyone you know, ever used Feng Shui? What were the benefits it gave? Do you believe that Feng Shui can improve business or life styles?

Good topic! Welcome to My Lot I've been meaning to look into this further. I have books on it & can of course learn more online. I haven't really put anything into practice as yet. I'm moving interstate very soon & looking to build, so I might even get a consultant in to make some recommendations. Anything that can improve one's health, wealth, prosperity, fortune, etc in the long term is surely worth a small initial outlay.

Hi there, Thankjs for your response. It is easy to gather books and info on this subject but not so easy to find the time to study, research and put it into practice. As you are looking to build, you have the ideal opportunity to put Feng Shui into practice. It will be really interesting to hear in the future what you did and how it has made a change to your life. Good luck.

A lot of people are interested and actually follow Feng Shui experts. And I respect them. But IMO, your future or fate really depends on you. No Feng Shui will work if you will not work hard yourself. There's nothing wrong in believing in such things as long as you are playing your part to improve your lifestyle.

Hi Staria, I agree, you only get out of life what you are willing to put into it. As you say we all need something in life to believe in, having belief gives us hope for the future and we all look in various directions for that belief. Feng Shui can only work with the persons help. Positive thinking definately pays rewards and leads to a better lifestyle and energy, and I feel being in touch with nature and cultivating it into positive energy, can only be a bonus and enhance our lives.

I love Feng Shui... and have attempted to use it many times in my immediate setting Tho' I don't think I quite have a grip on it. I believe it is useful... as I'm finding out there's a great many ways to look at anyhting. I believe we are supposed to be incorporating many earthly aspects to what we do daily. Maybe one day a hand full of dirt will buy you a car... in a good way, not out of dire distressed end of the world situations like you see in the movies b/c earth has become so ruined. hahaha If Feng Shui could give us a greater appreciation and maybe save our lives - why not believe in it. I think it's good and useful. I want to learn more about the green dragon, phoenix, white tiger and dark turtle.

Hi Dug, I think the ancient world was a lot more in tune with the Earth than we are today and along the way a lot of the good things that they believed in have gotten lost as we have become more relient on an easy lifestyle and allowing electrical devices and the such take over our lives. Maybe, this web site link will help you learn more about the four animals: www.absolutelyfengshui.com/fengshui/feng-shui-dragon-tiger.php Good luck with your learning.

I have always been interested in it, but I never tried it myself. It is a very interesting way of thinking though, I must admit!

Feng Shui is just like any other superstition. If you believe in it, it may have some minor effect on your life. But most of that effect is actually in your imagination, or because your believe caused you to do something a different and better way. You see something that seem to be a bit different in your life, and you give Feng Shui the credit. It's not much different from the placebo effect in medicine.

Everybody has a different point of view and I think a lot of every countries ancient mystic cultures could be described as superstition, such as the Incas, the Pharaohs, etc. Considering Feng Shui was used in the development of places like Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai, I guess they would disagree with you.

It is amazing how ancient Chinese beliefs are gradually being adopted by other countries across the globe. I hope your bits and pieces start bringing you some good fortune soon. But it is all about where they are positioned and what they are surrounded by.
