anyone else have a case of the winter blues like me where you just feel lifeless and listless? it seems like I just don't have alot of energy or desire to do anything when the weather is like it has been cold and miserable we had 2 nice days one it actually got to 70 then the next day its back to 30's and windy as all heck. with all the snow and the cold we have had this year just has me a little down I know that I live in the northeast and its wintertime and you have to expect this kind of weather, but it just seems like this has been a really long winter this year. anyone else feeling this way too?

Ah yes, the winter blues otherwise known as SAD (Season Affective Disorder). I hate the cold. I hate snow. I hate short daylight hours. So yeah, I get it too. Any winter is too long for me.

yeah it has been bad this year where I live and I would be happy for some days in the 40's. Doesn't help much that most of my family has gotten sick thanks to the lovely temperature going up and down so often.

Without a doubt, this country as seen some pretty bad snowstorms this winter. I live in Virginia and boy! did we luck out! Most of the major storms circumvented us, passing just to the west and north. (I am still keeping my fingers crossed.) I remember the horrendous blizzard from last February that set records for this area and literally shut down our federal government because Washington, D.C./VA/MD (I am just south of DC) were buried for days in that white crap. Talk about depressing!

This winter has been one of the most unusual and severe winters in a number of years. Heavy snow, blizzards, icy road conditions, foggy and gloomy. One often gets stuck in the house for days. That really makes it hard to pass through the miserable winter days. Keep hoping for warmer and sunny days !

You just described last year. Snowmaggedeon hit and I couldn't go anywhere! Thankfully we kept our power so there was internet! But this year h=we had some snow but not to much... to Date! I haven't had the winter blues. Between being in love , being busy at work and watching some t.v. shows I like and Some hockey , I have been ok. Hang in there march is on the way which means spring and tge hockey playoffs are not too far behind!

My Caps are not as good as they can be. I sit down to watch and withing minutes they are down 1-0! By 2-0 I'm off like a prom dress. They are in 5th or 6th which i think is a misprint! They are not playing like a team in the playoffs! Oh well, it will be good whoever makes it.

there were some big storms this year that just missed us, but we keep getting all these nuisance storms and it just gets to be annoying after a while with all the cold and the snow and now the nasty bitter cold wind and I have had enough of it for this year I am ready for some warmer weather and some sun wouldn't be so bad either and some longer days would help too. I just hope my team makes it this year for the hockey playoffs we are just a few points out of the last spot and they played so well to have a chance and then our offense went on vacation lost two games 2-1 ugh.

Its strange I don't usually feel this way, but this year it got so cold so soon and has dragged on so long and combined with all the snow piled up all over the place I would just like it to all disappear bring on spring some warmer weather and baseball season would be a welcome site.

The winter blues, I know it well. I don't mind the winter but when it takes a long time to go away it starts to affect you. I to get lifeless and depressed when the winter is long. I try to keep busy that seems to help but does not take away the feeling completely.

I am usually pretty busy that is not the problem its just the having no energy part of it that is getting to me. I usually am a pretty energetic person, but this year it really has got to me and I don't feel like doing much.

It can really start to wear on you when winter just drags on and on. I remember one particularly harsh winter in north Idaho. My husband and I had just moved to the state from Texas. That in it's self was a huge change. I had never experienced such a hard winter. My husband couldn't work due to the weather so we were snow bound for a few weeks til the weather broke. We would get dressed everyday in all our winter clothes... layers of warm clothes topped by heavy coats, gloves, hats sunglasses, scarves and heavy boots. Then we would head out. We walked the neighborhood then walkked to the store for a soda and a candy bar. We did that evry day. I think it saved our sanity. I had a terrible case of cabin fever and getting out in the fresh air and bright sunshine (when the sun was out) was what saved me from a terrible bout of depression. Even if it was cloudy out we'd still go. Just get out of the house. I'm back in Texas now and we don't get such harsh winters here. We may have a couple of days of really bad stuff but nothing like you have to go through. I would suggest you try getting out everyday and taking a walk if possible. As long as it's not raining you should be able to bundle up and bear it. Fresh air is good for you.

even on the days I was able to get out of the house it just seems like I don't have much energy or desire to want to do anything and that is the part that gets to me. I was doing alot over the winter with dad chopping wood and helping them out around the house, but after all of that and all this fun weather I am ready for it to start getting warm. I am not usually a big into spring person, but if it makes it a little warmer I am all for that as it is also the start of the baseball season, which I look forward too each year and the tournament for basketball, which I enjoy watching. I used to like to walk down to the store and I will still do that if I need to get some drinks as I do like the fresh air, but I wouldn't be doing that tonight with this nasty cold bitter wind we have that would not be much fun. I am looking forward to the spring this year so I can start being more active and getting out of the house more, but it seems like this winter will never end this year and that is getting me down a bit, but I am trying to stay positive and think warm thoughts.

if only it were that easy to convince myself it wasn't so cold outside, but I'm gonna stay positive and remember that spring is just around the corner and just focus on that for now.

I hear that taking vitamin D is good for you in the winter time. Also using bright lights in your home. I guess it's all about the sunshine, you get vitamin from the sunshine and the bright lights will mimic the sun. Sounds like trying to convince your body you're in the warm sunshine of spring

Winter's always too long, in my opinion... Today, we have wet snow... and I have a slight migraine.

Yes, I hate the so called winter blues! This is such a depressing time of year and I think that the whole weather system is going downhill! When it's cold I generally feel weak and tired and I genuinely think that the state of the weather determines what our mind will be whether it be positive or negative! I never used to use the heating in my flat but now I have arrived at the decision that I will keep the heating on daily, at least until the weather improves and it becomes warmer. I'm an enthusiastic cyclist but I'm struggling right now! I don't enjoy cycling when it's cold but prefer warmer weather with the sun shining on my face, nice! I don't like getting wet whilst on the bike as it creates a tremendous clean up job, it's just not worth it! So, the heating is on in my living room and I will be relaxing in there for a few hours today with a good book and lots of cups of tea! Andrew

usually doesn't affect me too much I don't usually mind the cold its more the heat that gets to me, but this year has just been so brutal with the cold and the snow and the wind now it is getting really bad. I am just looking forward to some warmer temperatures and some nicer weather all you can do is try to look forward and try not to dread how it currently is. I would agree that I don't like the cold air blowing on my face either I used to ride my bike alot mostly in the summer.

I actually haven't gotten them as bad this year. Usually by this time of year I'm feeling pretty down and just ready for summer - warmth and sunshine make me happy!! While I'm ready for spring to finally pop its head out, I'm not feeling quite as sad this year. Quite thankful for that!

People's feelings change with the circumstances. In winter the sky is often covered with dark clouds even the snow flakes are falling thick and fast.Indoors windows and doors are closed. No wonder we feel constrained. On the contrary ,if It is a sunlit and enchanting scene of spring,we surely feel happy and joy.

today was a particularly gloomy day it rained at least it wasn't any more snow and I never saw the sun today at all as it remained very overcast all day long and with the days still being so short you don't have much daylight to begin with and I can't wait for spring and some longer days and hopefully some more sun.
