Zimbabwe made a short work of Canada to day at Nagpur in 2011 world cup group 'A' match. They defeated them by whooping 175 runs. Zimbabwe winning the toss elected to bat but started badly against reasonably good Canada new ball attack. They lost both their openers with just 7 runs on board but recovered smartly through their former captain and wicket keeper batsman Tatenda Taibu and C R Ervine who put on record 181 runs partnership for the third wicket which is record for Zimbabwe. Taibu scored 98 and Ervine 85. Canada started disastrously loosing first wicket in very second over of the match for a spinner Price when the score was just 1 run on the board. They lost another 2 wickets by the time score reached seven and went on loosing the wickets at regular interval and folded the innings for just 123 runs in 42.1 overs. Zimbabwe who made a good start in this world cup by restricting Australia in first match are talented enough to pip lack luster New Zealand to reach the quarter final stage of the tournament.

When an associate nation beats you by 175 runs, then you are really bad. I think Canada were very very poor. I do not think they should be playing in the world cup. I am happy that ICC are reducing the number of teams to 10 in the next world cup. Having said that Zimbabwe hopefully will bounce back from here and mount a challenge for the quarterfinal spot. Cheers! Ram

It was purly another one sided match. Zimbbawe utilised their strength well. there batsmen found some good form and made it easy for them. Canada was poor in all sections ,and they failed misarably. Hope Zim will win more matches and have some hope of getting into the 2nd round.

ya zimbawe played well to beat canada. actually canadian's were unable to play the spin attack from zim. Zimbawe as a test playing nation , is expected to deliver the best, at least against this small team.
