drivers no license no insurance

i had a bad experience when unlicense driver or no insurance hit our handicapped vehicle that is parked on the street it happen in the evening when iwas watching a harry potter i didn't heard crash beacuse the air condition was on it was hot and the accident happen on april 3,2003 i didn't know somebody hit our handicapped van when our neighbors heard the crash they 911 immediately i heard knocking on our door it was a police officer if i owned this white van i said yes why? well somebody hit your handicapped van so i went ouside to see the damage i was shocked to see the front end damage was severe the driver took off immediately didn't bother to knock on our door now the damage he cause was $ 2,192.00 horrible

Oh wow, that is horrible and quite costly. I can see why he ran, which was not right as what if he had hurt someone in the van or what if it was his van. Did they ever catch the person, and were you reimbursed for the damages. One of the main reasons why in IL you are not allowed to drive without liability insurance. They do impose severe monetary penalties and or loss of license.
