My family has always decorated for pretty much every holiday even new years so I just kept up the tradition with my own kids. I love to decorate for the holidays even the simple not really important ones just to make the kids more excited. We decorated for St. Patricks day on the 27th of Febrauary I believe it was. We dont have to many decorations but we have enough that the house looks festive. I attached a picture of one of the decorations my daughter and I made last year.

Hello Shaggin, No I don't celebrate St. Patrick's day. As I have no ties with Ireland I don't really have any feelings nor interest in the 27th March. However, my mother does have daffodils in the house for St. David's day - March 1st - but then she is Welsh so I can go with that. I don't celebrate any of the 4 Saints, neither the 2 mentioned nor Andrew or George. But this year as St. Georges day falls on 23rd April which is also Easter Saturday, I guess I will give it a joint celebration. But as for decorating... Do I go for St. George, Easter or no decorations. Will make my mind up nearer the time.

saint patricks day pictures - Pictures my daughter made last year for Saint patricks day.
Ahh well I suppose you have many different days you could choose to decorate for. I have Irish far back in my blood line. My parents always celebrated St. Patricks day but I know many people do not. I dont know if I would decorate for that day if my parents hadent done it growing up. They sell lots of decorations in the stores for that day so I probably would still buy some and deocrate even if I wasent any irish. I attached a photo of two of the crafts that my daughter did last year that I put up this year agian to decorate.

Aww thanks so much. We have a bar in town that was bought a few years back by an Irish man. When they came here they brought a whole staff of Irish people with them. They have a big thing there on St. Patricks day. St. Patricks day to the irish is pretty much just a day to get totally drunk lol.

Looking at the pics of the wind sock and the 2 decorations your daughter made she certainly has talent. Over here, the bars make an effort for St. Patrick's day but the shops hardly have anything decoration wise. The only Irish I have in my blood is the guiness that I sometimes drink, hahaha. But, I agree let's celebrate what we can and bring a bit of happiness into peoples lives. Over here everyone is getting ready to celebrate the Royal wedding and planning street parties. The government has declared it a national holiday, so a day off work to celebrate. Hope you enjoy St. Patrick's day with your family at the end of the month.

We try to decorate for every holiday, but I begin to lose steam right around now. I manage to get the St. Patrick's Day stuff up every year, mainly because my husband's birthday is also in mid-march, and he is Irish. By the time I get to Easter, though, I really skimp on the decorations--especially when Easter and St. Pat's are close together. This year, with Easter being so late, I will do better!

I usually decorate the first of the month for each holiday and the next day or soon after the holiday is over I undecorate. So it hasent been very long since I took down the Valentines day decorations and now have St. Patricks day decorations up and then soon after will be easter decorations. I'm sick of seeing decorations around my house lol but my kids really enjoy it.

Nice windsock! No, I do not decorate for every holiday. Just mainly the big ones. Thanksgiving (autumn looking decorations), Christmas, Easter, Halloween, 4th of July & sometimes Valentines Day. In the past I have not had the extra $ or really the time to think about decorating for the smaller holidays but I think I am going to start doing more.

Most all of the decorations that I have are crafts that my daughter and I have made together. I dont have many decorations for the Fourth of July unfortunately. Everything else though I have a pretty good amount. I also dont have any at all for new years eve and new years day but I dont really feel like taking the time to decorate for those days anyway.

I have never heard of anybody decorating their home for St. Patricks Day before! Is that a common thing for people to do over there? We just do the Christmas decorations here at my place and even that is minimal. That is all I ever grew up with as well. I do way less than my parents do and if I did not have children, then would not bother decorating at all probably. The only other day really that I see people decorating their homes for other than Christmas here is Australia Day when people put up large flags usually. They tend to decorate their cars more than their homes though with flags.

Thats cool that they celebrate Australia day by decorating thei cars. I dont decorate my van for any of the holidays just the inside of my house. I dont know if many people decorate for st. patricks day but my family always did so I carried on the tradition with my children.

We actually don't decorate our home for anything except Christmas. However, I will occasionally put a few things up for Easter because that is my other favorite holiday in the course of a year. The reason that I don't decorate for all of the different holidays is because of the fact that it would require a lot of space to have all of the different decorations in our home and also because I can't afford to have a lot of decorations.

window clings - St. Patricks day window clings in our dining room.
Easter is a really fun holiday for kids. Letting them dye eggs and having an easter egg hunt. Having dinner at relatives house. I dont care for Easter decorations though so I dont have many. The ones I have I only put out because my kids love decorating. Someday when my kids are grown I probably will get rid of at least 75% of my holiday decorations. I attached a picture of some of our St. Patricks decorations.

In my life Christmas and new year are the two major holiday which decorations are famous which my family also agree, but other I never put any traditional or saint festivity. Through my faith if you do that it considered idolatry... see you around

When I was young and living with my parents they decorated for every holiday. My sister and I loved it getting to put up all the decorations. They decorated for new years eve and new years day but I dont do that. I dont have any decorations for such simple holiday.

I don't decorate because I'm not Irish and to me it's a small holiday not worth the trouble of putting up and taking down decorations. My daughter on the other hand even though she's only very little Irish loves to decorate. Then again she loves to decorate for any holiday. She'd be the perfect housewife.

I only decorate for Christmas.. and I hardly even do that anymore. Past couple years it's been nothing more but the tree being put up.

I do love decorating for Christmas the most. I have beautiful Christmas decorations. All the rest of the decorations we have for other holidays really arent anything special. Mostly they are crafts that my daughter and I have done. They are very special to me.

Well I know that there are certain foods that are traditonally served for St. Patricks day dinners but I am really sure what they are. My family has dinner at my mothers house. We have peas and pretty much everything else we put green food coloring in such as the milk and the mashed potatoes. We like to make it festive for the kids.

The "traditional" food for St. Patrick's Day is corned beef and cabbage, with boiled potatoes and carrots, too. People usually eat Irish soda bread, too--and drink Guinness, of course!
