I was and still am a very sensitive person. I cry about the most silly things. I cry when I was late in school, when I did not get a smiley face in class, just about everything. My family and friends knows better than to tease me when I was younger because they know the water works won't end. I was always teased by other kids when I was younger because I was too sensitive and seemed to be always crying and that made me teared up more. So I try train my self to hold back my emotions if I could. Now, I've noticed that when I cry, tears don't sometimes appear no matter how hard I'm hurting. It is as if my body was already conditioned to hold it all in. So is it possible to run out of tears?

wow you sound exactly like me...at least as a kid. i used to cry about everything too. and people teased me for it too. anyway, the difference here is that i still cry alot, but i have to admit that i cry alot less than i did when i was younger because i tried training myself not to cry too. also, i know it is not physically possible to run out of tears unless you are dehydrated. believe me, there have been times when i cried so much i thought i was out of tears but then i drank some water and the tears started coming again lol...

It's good to know I'm not alone. Sometimes people just don't realize that more people are more sensitive than other. Some of us are with with mushiness you know...

I don't think it's possible to run out of tears. Maybe it's because you're holding back that's why tears don't come out. If you run out of tears, it means your eyes are dry, which is impossible because you'll go blind.

Oh I never thought about it that way. Good insight.

As You say, being an emotionally expressive Person, you could be conditioning yourself to only produce tears at times when you'd actually need them..and If you're asking literally is it possible to run out of tears,it could be,but you would have cried yourself until you were dehydrated to get to that state.I hope you never get to that stage!

hello tessa, I think so. It happens to me. I can't hardly cry now. After so many hurt/pain and sadness that strikes in my life for years,i woke one day feeling numb and can't shed tears. It depends on each individual, how tough we are to hold our emotions. Being strong is a good sign of growing up,being matured and accepting reality. So,holding our emotions i consider as growing up. Have a great day and welcome to mylot

I use to be able to cry just about anything but I think that after so much pain in life somehow I have become numb. Where as I have no tears, bad or good feelings towards the situation. Although sadden it is like I hold it all in and no feelings come out.
