Is prison like staying in a lodge or luxury suite hotel? I heard some guy on the radio say prison is like a country club and that prisoners get free room and board with free health care, free food, and free water.

Well there are some countries with prisons that we can say better or at par with a third world country hotel/motel. But prisoners there are those white collar meaning tax evasion and such those that will not pose a threat or plans to escape.

It is not like staying in a lodge or anything like that. That person on the radio, has he ever been in prison?? I would guess either no or he's just a complete delusional idiot. I have never been to prison myself, but I am very interested in politics and human rights and prison is a horrendous thing. Anyone claiming otherwise is wrong. Yes they get a free CELL, not a room. They have no privacy. Guards treat them poorly. They have to be on guard all the time, making sure that no one is going to steal their food or other belongings, kill them, rape them. Then think of what happens when they get out. They can't live in some places and they can't get a job at most places (if any at all). So many of them come out homeless and jobless. So what can they do to survive? They can do things that will probably get them locked back up, but some are so desperate that they get arrested on purpose, just so that they can go to bed with food in their stomach and a roof over their head. So yes, they may get free health care (if the guards will allow you to see a doctor), and yes they may get free food (prison food- yumm), but it's not, by any means, a fun place to be.

In a way it is. Especially for the people who have money, cause they can buy more freedom inside the prison and they can buy people who will work for them. No wonders, criminality is everywhere.

I do know someone who has spent quite a few times in prison, not jail, but prison. For lengthy periods in his life and from what I have heard he had his own quarters, TV, cable and special privileges. Several years ago I accompanied someone to visit him and I was amazed as they had a festival on the grounds with live music and all the barbecue trimmings. Wow! I don't know if it was the location because it was Dixon, Illinois.

In our day and time, prison has become more luxerious than most lives on the outside. Not in the way of accomodation, but in the amenities. Alot of them have it better in prison than they did when they were free. Yes, there is the possibiity of getting hurt or killed. But most of them lived that way on the outside too. That is one reason, I believe, why most of the people arent afraid to go to prison. They aren't really giving up as much as they should. They have made it too easy on the inside.

People have their own life values, society will not adapt to individual need.Prison violence as a national authority,or by the state to decide how to punish criminals .After all ,the prison scandal and crime is still relatively common
