creating discussions in myLot.. lacking substance?

i've ran into a message board (i forgot the name of the site) and it contained an article discussing how people here in myLot discuss things, and it didn't mention anything good really.. it really didn't annoy me as i was going on with reading it until the end, but i think it established a good point about the discussions here in myLot lacking substance.. well, who wouldn't want a few pennies coming into their account with small talk? hmm.. so it critiqued the myLot community, stating of discussions being created day by day that lacked substance and has nothing really going on except hoarding other members into responding into them, although it stated that there somehow were a few intelligent discussions that someone would really learn something from.. oh well, maybe the slightest bit of money done in an easy way would demote some, as far as quality is concerned.. go myLotters!!

When you see negatives articles concerning myLot you can be almost certain that they are created by ex-lotters who did not get the results that they expected to get because they were doing things wrong and not like myLot tell us. There have been over 2 million discussions posted since myLot launched. This one, as you can see in your broweser, is number 2,497,687. Even though many have been deleted due to Guideline violations, the majority are still available and, as myLot only rewards quality contributions, it is obvious that, at least for myLot, they are worthy of a place here. Who decides what is an 'intelligent' discussion anyway? The writer of the article that you read?

that's what the article writer appears to input in the mind of his or her article's readers, maybe particularly pointing on members of this site. but i think it's just a matter of opinion, and everyone here has their own. and i suppose no one would agree to whatever that writer has to say.. maybe a few that only go here not for the money but just for plain fun. well, no one or nothing could really please everyone..

It is a fact that the less you think about money here and the more fun that you have then the more your earnings add up quicker. That person obviously never realised that though! Welcome to myLot!

The majority join for the money. Then they put to much accent on earning and get things wrong. Once you forget about the cents adding up and have FUN here then you will see more money than you sere seeing before. I see that you enjoy commenting on the responses that your topic receives and THAT is what turns a topic into a discussion and THAT is what will earn for you. You will see tomorrow

Hmm... small talk? If what they can read here is small talk, I'd like to know his opinion on the discussion found in other sites. He must have been too superficial that he didn't see there are a lot of discussions of substance here. After all, nobody forced him to participate or just read the "small talk" discussions. In fact, nobody forces no one to join myLot. If they couldn't find anything interesting for them, they shouldn't say that the grapes are sour.

Morning inu! You got grapes for breakfast today? Sour ones too?

I'm not sure if I was explicit enough. In my language "the grapes are sour" is used frequently. This expression comes from a fable "The Fox and the Grapes" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fox_and_the_Grapes ). The fox wanted to eat some delicious grapes but he couldn't reach for them, despite all her efforts. Then she said she doesn't care, as the grapes were sour, anyway... The expression is used when referring to people who envy others and they pretend they don't care about what others have.

right on! sorry i forgot the site, and i think you're very eager to read about that article to criticize the writer.. he was maybe frustrated that he can't game myLot's system, leading him to create his article about myLot. the grapes are sour.. i like that.. hmm.

I agree that some discussions are somewhat pointless and of low quality, but there are a lot of good ones out there as well. Though I have to admit that I have responded to a lot of "easy discussions" (by which I mean discussions that everyone can answer to, but that lacked substance), I try to also respond to a lot of good discussions of high quality.

Creating a lot of discussions does NOT create a lot of earnings - unless the user who started them goes back and comments on the responses. Too many Lotters think that they earn for the responses that other people post on their dìscussions but that is so wrong. We only earn for our own work here, not for the work of others.

yeah, i think you're right about that sometimes some people really do it for some money, which makes them create lots of discussions, and some become really lame.. but it sometimes really depend on the comments, where lame discussions become substantial because some good people have commented and contributed a little something to the original discussion idea..

It is my opinion that anyone who fails at something usually has nothing nice to say about it. What I have seen from some members who have left us is that they did not take the time to learn the site in total. Sometimes it takes a few tries before we fully grasp and understand. I am going on 10 months with myLot and have to say that I am still learning as each day there is something I do learn. Although it gets easier and easier each day. It is most members intention to help many so they too can succeed, this way the population and the discussion continue to grow daily and we have a site to come to for many years to come. It does say in the guidelines to discuss anything under the sun. So what one members feels is substance many not be to anothers liking. Maybe the members who are saying this should have come up with great discussions to discuss, as we are all allowed to discuss anything as long as we follow the guidelines. A warm welcome to you on myLot!

I will tell you a little secret that when I joined I did not post at all for 3 full months. I spent the entire time reading a great deal and learning the site and then the fourth month I dove in and here is where I am starting my 10th month.

i've joined this site i think around 15 days ago, and i've not really been active here in myLot. but i found many interesting things with a lot of discussions and really learned about important facts of life through just reading. actually, i spend more time just reading rather than trying to post for earnings, although that's my main reason for joining in this social networking site.. there really are some that will not interest you, but this site gives a voice to all of its members. guess there's no room for narcissists here..

When we make a discussion, we try to make it interesting. By that, others could relate and respond to it. Lacking substance ? I guess, i can say it lacks substance if in a matter of how many months nobody responded to it still. Well, honestly, i made some also, but not anymore.

Starting meaningless discussions or giving "meaningless responses to try and boost your rating" is against the guidelines, so discussions lacking of substance are deleted at myLot. I read also some bad comment against myLot generally made by members who left this site without even trying to understand it : I agree completely with what said Diana in her box.

Some of the discussions do some repetitive, I've been having a hard time finding discussions I actually want to respond to, but there are still good discussions on this site that interest me.

I don't agree with the agree. I'm a little bit offended for some reason because even though I'm new, I actually like answering and asking questions here in myLot. I also say so what, so what if some people only come here to make money. Go mylotters!
