I love my country as it is the GREATEST country in the world to live!!! I just sometimes wonder what our court system is thinking???

A friend of mine here did this discussion on the Westboro Baptist Church's plan to protest at the funeral of 9 year old Christine Green who was murdered by Jared Loughner in his attempt to assassinate Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in Tuscon, Arizona, back in January 2011. Fred Phelps created the Westboro Baptist Church in 1955 & its ONLY members are members of Phelps own family. As of 2007, there was only 71 members. He has NO tolerance for any belief other than his own!!! From the best I can figure out, Phelps has brainwashed the key members of his family & keeps the entire family under his control!!! The church is an "independent" baptist church....following NONE of the beliefs of any Baptist sect including the fundamentalist sect. Phelps has NO tolerance for any belief other than is own radical fundamentalist thoughts!!!
Phelps & Westboro's claim to fame is their need to protest any funeral services that Phelps doesn't agree with the way the deceased lived their life. Little Christine Green's sin was to be of the Catholic faith. When Westboro first started protesting, it was at funeral services of homosexuals...even protesting at funeral services of military personnel who gave their lives for our country that were gay. I don't care how gay someone is...if they are willing to put their life in harms way to help protect our freedom...then they have SERVED their country HONORABLY & deserve a proper burial!!! Many states have passed laws banning them from getting within a close proximity of the funeral service. One soldier's father sued to stop them from protesting any more funerals because he understood the emotional stress the family is subjected to!!! I think most of you understand how difficult it is to go through the loss of a loved one. I can't imagine how much more difficult it would be with people standing just past the service chanting how they deserved to die!!! I believe in EVERYBODY's First Amendment Right to free speech!!! NO matter how stupid I think your thoughts are, I'd fight to my dying breath for your rights to say them!!! I also believe that it is God's right to punish those who do not follow Him...NOT my place nor Fred Phelps!!!
In the case of Fred Phelps & Westboro Baptist Church, I think he has the right to voice his opinion. If he wants to stand in his pulpit & tell his followers that the deceased is going to hell for what they have done, I'd say he has that right!!! If he wants to stand on a street corner & preach to the passerby's that the deceased is going to hell for what they have done, then I'd say he has that right!!! If he wants to write an editorial & have it posted in the local newspaper that the deceased is going to hell for what they have done, I'd say he has that right. However, when it comes to standing behind the parents at the funeral of a fallen soldier who gave his/her life for this country or a child murdered in the streets, I find it appalling that he is given the right to "harass" the family all in the name of his First Amendment Rights!!!
The Supreme Court just gave Westboro the right to protest ANY funeral they decide is open game.
I wonder how they would feel if Fred & family showed up at their loved one's funeral & began protesting??? I bet the local authorities would be escorting the protesters away from the service!!! How would you feel if Phelps & his clan showed up at your loved one's funeral simply because they didn't approve of your religion or lifestyle???
