know something isn't right in America. Most Americans remain convinced that the country is on the wrong track. And now, after Obama's change, not only do we feel we are on the wrong track, we feel as if the train has gained speed. Through blood and sacrifice we were given the gift of self rule. We have sold our birthright for government handouts, safety and security, and corporate greed. We have forgotten the delicate balance between master and minion. Ater signing the Constitution, Ben Franklin was asked by a woman, "What have you given us, sir?" He responded, "A Republic, if you can keep it." What say you? Can we keep it? And what will it take to keep it?

Nope. I don't think we'll keep it. It would take honor and honesty on the part of our leaders and they've been on the skids for over 50 years. I think we're in steady decline. This decline is not to be blamed on any particular political party but on all of them (leaders) and us. We've not insisted that they all be held accountable for their bad management. And what do you mean by "after Obama's change"? What change?

When we (U.S.) are reading about the decline and fall of the United States in various books, we will all be asking, "How did that happen?" and there will be debates about who is at fault, as there will be, the majority will not have a clue. I do so fear for this nation. Thanks for BR, debra.

I have the same feelings as you do on this. I guess that is what makes me so frustrated, it all seems so unfixable.

Personally I think some of these things happened before Obama became President and everything happening right now may have been in place long before as well. I think in some ways things happening are getting Scary but who could say anyone else could really do a better job as well? Look at what is happening in most states with the schools and cutting back on the Police force... This is a very scary thought for the future of our children and lives for sure.

Yes, we've been set up to fall. Obama is just the last in a long line of puppets.

We could keep it if we had an honest government who remembers they are supposed to represent the people NOT their own personal greed.

In order to keep it, we have to start helping one another, not depending on the government to do so. Great example, we are working hard and trying to get out of debt. We have a loving church family, and called to ask for the money to keep our lights on. They gave us the money immediately. We could go on assistance, and some people need to do that, but it's a TEMPORARY thing, not something to live on. We have to make wise decisions about how we spend our money, how many children we can have and afford to raise, and what we need versus what we want. Great discussion!

You are correct in that we all need to start thinking differently about things like helping and caring. I too have had to call on my fellow believer's and never was I made to feel small. Not so when after my divorce, while I was in school, I asked for food stamps, I was grilled over an open flame so to speak by the intake worker. Her attitude was clearly one of superiority over me. While a more helping and caring attitude in America would help, it will not solve the problems that face us entirely. We have a government that has grown out of control. The Constitution is ignored, UN and it agencies tell the president what to do and when to do it. Our economy has been hijacked by the Federal Reserve and laws have been passed that clearly target honest hard working patriots as criminals.
