Does Mike Huckabee Slander The President of the United States On Cable News TV?

Mike Huckabee said he "misspoke" when he said that President Obama grew up in Kenya! Yet he returned to FOX "news" even after stating that he "misspoke" and continued his same discussion about the Mau Mau Revolution and President Obama being of that mindset ... and he 'added' more fuel to his fire saying "I have said many times, publicly, that I do think he has a 'different' world view, and I think it's in part molded out of a very 'different' experience. 'Most' of 'us' grew up going to Boy Scout meetings, and you know, 'our' communities were filled with rotary clubs, not madrassas." (emphasis added). To continue sowing his seeds, he (Huckabee) reiterates his vast misleading statements ... can it be any more clear that Mike Huckabee is actually committing a public character assassination of America's president? And, wouldn't it be more honorable politically of the presidential republican hopeful just accept that President Obama was born in the U.S. and is Christian ... and TRY to beat the President with "ideas" ... some adult, intelligent future views of a more perfect union? btw ... did "MOST" of 'us' go to Boy Scout meetings??

So, are you saying that you aren't going to vote for Mike Huckabee? Or were you going to vote for him until he said some mistaken things? Character assassination is being practiced all over. Chris Matthew says Newt Gingrich looks like a car bomber and calls Michele Bachmann "balloon head". Bill Maher, liberal icon, says he doesn't believe Obama is a Christian. Lots of people agree with him. Huckabee has plenty of ideas but at the moment the press is caught up in reporting this gaffe and pretty much ignores any ideas promoted by Republicans. There's no question that Obama did not grow up in America or live the typical American experience, that his worldview and policies are affected by this and by his parent's radicalism as well as his early, admitted Marxism. I think the American public has every right to weigh these facts when deciding who best represents the interests of America.

Huckabee hasn't announced he will be running, gladys. The comparison is apt, Matthews, Maher and Huckabee are all political commentators. They can all say whatever they like as long as their audiences watch. Matthews panders to his tiny audience, Maher panders to his or they pander to him, and Huckabee is true to his audience or they are true to him. It's all the same thing.

Rollo, there is no comparison whatsoever between things Chris Matthews or Bill Maher have said and what Huckabee said. If Chris wants to say Newt looks like a car bomber, he can say it; if he said he WAS a car bomber and that was "one thing he knows", now THAT would be a problem. If he thinks Bachmann is a "balloon head" I'd say that puts him in the majority but it's just a figure of speech, it's not a lie about her life. Bill Maher said he doesn't believe President Obama is a Christian. which is his opinion and he has every right to state it since he's not slandering anyone. Also, he's not claiming the President is a Muslim but implies he believes he's an atheist or an agnostic. How you can say it's all the same thing is way beyond me, with all due respect. Annie

I watched the interview of O'Reilly and Huckabee, and he bent over backwards to apologize for mixing the countries up and even stated that it's on record in his book that he knew about Obama's youth but simply misspoke, not to mention that he went out of his way to make it abundantly clear that he has absolutely no problem with Obama as a person and simply disapproves of him politically. What else do people want besides a cheap headline? The fact that Obama didn't live the typical "American" life is a legitimate concern, as many Americans hold American values close to their hearts and don't want to go the way of some nations abroad in terms of standing and fiscal policy. You are what made you that way. There's no getting around that. Obama isn't immune. When speaking about the POTUS, people SHOULD make it their concern about where he grew up, what type of associations he had, "why" he believes in what he believes in, etc. Why wouldn't people want to know and feel as if their president shared the same values? Maybe because sometimes leaders go bad. And the funny thing about all those leaders that go bad: they had plenty of people believing the hype before their true face shone through. Not saying that's Obama, just saying people should be very aware of a leader's background and question every single step along the way.

Nice try!! Huckabee did what??? The man constructed an entire verbal, public scenario of our President having grown up in Kenya ... there is no question as to whether or not he "misspoke" ... he didn't!! At that time, he was talking to "his" audience, those who he pandered to, those who wanted to hear just what he said, pandering for votes in this manner is disgusting!! It is a totally ridiculous argument ... for Mike Huckabee to now pretend he didn't know that Indonesia had not one thing to do with the Mau Mau Revoluton occurring in KENYA is just LYING!! Even stating that the President "grew up" in Indonesia is misleading!! Again, defending the indefensible!!

Of course, president Obama has a different world view: The man is originally from Hawaii, and Hawaii is in fact a different country! Hawaiians naturally see things differently from mainland Americans.

President Obama has a world view ... more than can be said of these simple minded, narrow republican idjitts! They need to get off the block, out of that tiny box for awhile, know what goes on around them and yes globally!

Trust me, he didn't "misspeak", no such thing! You know, I actually used to like Mike Huckabee even though I certainly disagree with him on most issues. I really thought he was a very nice, decent, likable guy but I guess that was before Fox News brainwashed him or something. He's apparently been hanging around Beck and Hannity too much for too long. The problem is, most thinking people know Beck and Hannity are full of it but many probably feel they can trust Huckabee, a former minister. What he's clearly doing is pandering to the far right in the hopes of getting their support should he run for the GOP Presidential nomination. I saw an interesting poll that showed the majority of "birthers" who are likely primary voters favor Huckabee. He knows exactly what he's doing. And, no, most of us didn't go to Boy Scout meetings; in fact MOST BOYS actually weren't Boy Scouts! Annie

Hi Annie. I'm totally disgusted with Huckabee ... I guess he watches the offering pan fill as he panders to the utter racist of the nation ... I mean, it's all about our President's "African" father and grandfather! Nothing about the real issues facing this nation! At this point, conservatives think they can run the grand wizzard of the KKK and win .. that's all they have!!

Hussein O has admitted that he was raised in a muslim school in Indonesia...what is your problem. He was taught the quran and knows the prayer. He has stated that he misses the sound of the call to prayer. He has stated that he had to get up very early in the morning to be schooled. He has stated that he did not have the same opportunities that other kids here in the states did. He stated most of this in his little talks to school children at the beginning of the school year. You could have read it online like I did. Huckabee is not slandering him, because Fox carried these little talks live so he probably watched them. We will never know the truth about Hussein O because he will never release the info. The only thing we do know for sure is that he went to college on a grant for foreign born students....

As I asked Adoniah ... don't republicans have any "ideas" that they might use to beat President Obama in 2012 ... you know, something like an intelligent view of where they'd like to take this nation going forward?? Okay, I guess not!

Adoniah, I think her "problem" is that Huckabee outright LIED and then tried to pass it off as having "misspoke". WHO CARE that he spent some of his childhood in Indonesia or that he knows the Muslim prayer? Indonesia isn't Kenya, which happens to be a place President Obama never visited until he was in his twenties. I've heard him say his mother got him up very early in the morning to do his school work because she worked long hours and that was the only time she could help him. Annie
