Apart from vinegar is there anything good and natural but tough enough to clean the grime in the bathroom? We have a lot of mildew in the corners of the ceiling, a lot of limescale and also the grit and grime that you get on the edges and in the cracks of things....thanks for any great solutions! :)

I would suggest baking soda as well to get the grime out. Of course also using scalding hot water may help get the caked on grime and grit off as well. but yeah baking soda scrubbed on the tile should get the grit and grime off as well as vinegar without the strong smell, and of course baking soda is an odor deodorizer too!

Are there any types of vinegar that don't have the strong smell? Does anyone know the type of vinegar or the name of the vinegar that doesn't have any scent?

Try a combination of water, vinegar and borax ;-) I lived in a house that had bad mildew in the bathroom and used the above formula. On the really, really tough spots, saturate it in vinegar, bi-carb and citric acid. Just watch that the paint doesn't start to strip =O

I'll try this - if it's good and works I'll defnitely use it, we usually end up painting over the mildew andyway...

One of my friends uses lemon juice for all cleaning but I wouldn't have thought you could do better than vinegar or maybe baking soda perhaps...

I actually would prefer to use the lemon juice as it smells better but yes, everyone seems to be saying, baking soda or vinegar - is malt vinegar the same?

Hi Bellapop, Seems everyone is in agreement with what I would suggest which would be lemon juice and or baking soda. You can dilute them in warm water and with a brush you can clean spotlessly.

Have you tried mixing lemon juice and salt? Srub it with a toothbrush.
