Dear Friends, Yuvraj seems to finally performing to his potential. I am not talking about his performance with the ball. Yes.. If he can roll his arm over and pick up a few wickets along the way, it is always a plus. But it is his batting that every one hopes that he shines. Now after a long time, he seems to realize his importance as a player in the team. He did not try anything flamboyant. It was important that he stayed till the end and he did and saw the team through. The Irish attack was not deadly. But they did their basics correct to make the Indians earn their runs. In the end it was a convincing victory for the Indian team. Hope fully he can keep up his performances in the future. The Indian team's bowling attack is still a worry fro the fans. I sincerely hope that Dhoni leaves Piyush Chawla and gives R. Ashwin a chance. Share your views... Balu.

They call it match practice, it is far more important than practice games and net practice. All players like to have decent outings when they play matches and a good performance always builds up the confidence. In two matches Yuvi has followed the instructions of his coach and captain and has made the effort to understand and play his role.I believe his role is that of a finisher. It was encouraging to see him restraining himself even when Yusuf was hitting those magnificent sixes. This restraint will help India against tougher oppositions like Pakistan and South Africa. He has been taking his role as a bowler seriously and in the current scenario he and Yusuf are expected to bowl at least 10 overs between them since Dhoni is playing 4 specialist bowlers. He exceeded his brief and created a world cup record. This performance is likely to lift the bowlers in the team to come up with match winning feats. Ashwin can't be kept out any more. But Dhobi wants to use him as a secret weapon and will use him selectively like Imran Tahir of South Africa was not played against India in the ODI series in South Africa. Piyush has not utilized the chances given to him but he is a good bowler who can take wickets at crucial times. He looks rusty in this world cup.

Dear Moksha, I do agree with the fact that it was more than a practice match. Ireland did make India sweat for their runs. Full credit to them. But they are still an associate team. I hope Yuvraj has something in store for the bigger teams in the quarter finals and semis and hopefully in the finals. Coming to Dhoni... I don't think that holding back Ashwin is the brightest of ideas. What use will be of him if a stage comes where there are no more matches for India to play Ashwin?? Hope fully that does not happen. Piyush was a surprising pick for me and not surprisingly, he as not delivered...!! Rusty is an understatement on his performance. I just hope that Dhoni now picks Ashwin or Sreesanth or Nehra. Any one is a better pick than Piyush... A one year old baby will agree on that. If it was up to me, I would substitute Munaf with Nehra or Sreesanth. Munaf does not even bend down to pick up the ball. The other two might give away runs, but then they will pick up wickets too. We definitely need strike bowlers...!!! But what can I say, Dhoni has to agree with it...!!! Share your views... Balu.

A 'best response', my third in the last one week !!And all for cricket, OMG! I can't believe it. I'd like to tell my men friends, they will go green with envy. I feel Dhoni knows what Ashwin can do and he will definitely introduce him when the going gets tougher.Maybe he wants to get Piyush match fit too. I will not be surprised if in the later stages when the heat dries up the pitches India will play three specialist spinners and two pacers. If Nehra, Srisanth and Piyush play to their potential this Indian bowling attack will become potent and menacing. The offerings from Yuvi and yusuf will be a welcome bonus.

I think Yuvi's performance in the last two matches has been the real bonus for the Indian team. It is important for India that Yuvi is in form come the knockout stages as he is a key player in the middle order. What was even more heartening to see was his application on a slow pitch as he is usually found wanting on slow pitches. Cheers! Ram

Dear Ram, Yes, I agree with you Ram. Yuvraj did apply himself and saw the team through. He did it without trying anything flamboyant (Praise the Lord for that :)). Hopefully he can keep this going more often than not. If he can do so, it would definitely improve India's chance of winning the World Cup...!!! Share your views... Balu.

Ya,its nice to see that Yuvraj is back in his rhythm.Even though he played calm and quite innings ,it is always nicet o see him getting his boundaries in his real passion. And the last four he had aginst the Irish which put him to fifty was great, just a roll on his twist. Also he is doing well with the balls too.

Dear Saju, He is almost back in rhythm. But, the most important thing is that he stayed till the end. Yivraj did not throw his wicket away. Him doing well with the ball is always a plus. But the most important thing is that he performs with his bat consistently.... Share your views... Balu.
