If you name your child Facebook and you are Filipino, his/her nickname would either be faceface or bookbook lol. Somewhere in Egypt to celebrate revolution, couple named their child facebook, what a joke? Poor kid, I mean seriously why in the world they name their child facebook, that would be a joke for a lifetime. Seriously, people?

Today, there seems to be a trend in giving children strange names, the rich and famous seem to be doing it all the time. I can understand that facebook helped liberate Egypt, but naming a child that... Parents need to remember when naming a child it is going to be for life or at least until they are old enough to change it by deed pole. As the child goes through school an unusual name can have dire consequences on them and their studying. From my experience parents who choose such strange names normally end up calling their child by a nick name, so why not just give them that name in the first place. Think of the child, before saddling them with a name that will scar them for life!

Yeah, sometimes parents name their kids without even thinking what the kid would go through when he or she grows up. A name is something that you will be taking with you forever so parents, please think twice before naming your kids some name that may sound cool today but will definitely sound like a "loser" in a couple of years. Save your kid the trouble of having to fight other kids and having to defend his or her name to other kids.

Oh my God! That's is a great example how crazy and dumb people can be! I really could smack all the idiots like them in the face, but maybe it'll be worse after that, so I just sigh and go along... Have a nice day!

I am like 1\3 Filipino so I know what book-book means :). I will never name my child facebook. That is just crazy. It's like naming your child you-tube or eBay or caltex. It's just ludicrous. I do understand the couple though because facebook played a big part during the uproar in Egypt. It was one of the best means of communication at that time. Although I don't necessarily agree with their decision to name their child facebook but I do respect their decision. I have a major crush on Ben Adams from A1 if you are familiar with that boy band in the late 90's. I always thought I will name my future child Ben ha ha. I was very young back then, I was just 9 so don't judge me :P.

I know, right? We respect each parent's right to name their children anything but on my own opinion, it's just ridiculous. It would be hard for the child especially growing up because that would be the reason he/she will be making fun of other children. But sometimes they also have to think of what will the child be going through or what would be the consequences of having a name like that.

Maybe the parents are crazy about Facebook! Or, maybe they are just plain crazy. What may have seemed cute or 'trendy' at the time will not look the same in 5 or 10 years. I just hope that the kid forgives mom and dad someday!

It's okay to name someone "Facebook". If you learn and discern virtually every name in the planet, you might find some names funny but on the flip side it may mean much to the parents. In a literal sense, if you use the name "God-like", instead of "Michael" or "Little Warrior" instead of "Shaquille", it may sound funny for some. We have to respect the right of every parent to name whatever they feel naming their kid after. The decision to name their kid "Facebook" is only exercising a fundamental right that each parent has, and each of us has to respect that. Peace and cheers.
