Hi friends, I feel sleepy everyday after lunch irrespective of noise or not. I find it very tough to work from 2-3 after lunch, I do not eat much but still this is not changing. I try to walk after lunch so that do not feel sleepy but the moment I start working, feel sleepy Do you have any suggestion?

Mind you this could help. I once was like you but now I've gone away with it... Have several sips of refreshing tea either yellow or green after the meal and try to meditate for 10-15 minutes prior to facing your work station or table once more. Let me know how it worked on you. I could suggest some more tips. Enjoy... =)

How about trying 10-15 minutes of light walk around before getting back for work. It is another suggestion. =)

If this helps you, great, but it works for me... Not sure what your eating habits are, but if you're really hungry before lunch, I recommend eating light snacks every few hours...eat breakfast, of something like cereal, oatmeal, some fruit and a yogurt. A couple of hours before lunch and after breakfast eat another piece of fruit, have some yogurt or cottage cheese or a protein bar. For lunch, eat healthy meat like chicken, fish...something very low in fat...have some salad. Eat whole grain bread or wheat bread. What usually happens is the body is responding to the sudden spike in sugars, like carbs, starch and granulated sugars...and that is what typically makes someone sleepy. If this doesn't help, and you get to the point that it's a concern, might want to talk to your doctor about it. Good luck!

No suggestions really, as I myself am a regular victim at office… OMG just after lunch, I feel like sticking up my eyelids with Feviquick LOL Nevertheless, I think work is the best medicine for this… the days I’m really busy, time just flies away… there’s no time to sit and doze! Other than that, I sometimes loiter around the office or enter somebody’s cabin and have a chat if that person is free too… that way too, time is spent and I don’t feel sleepy.

No, no Rajib, nothing weird about this! Only last Saturday (I’ve the weekend off), the net got disconnected suddenly and when I called them up, the technician wanted to come around 3/30 in the afternoon and I said NO NO, I’ll not be at home! This was a blatant lie but I did not want them to come at that time and spoil my afternoon sleep

Try to have a piece of fruit. It's natural sugar can give you a pick me up without spiling your dinner or giving you a terrible low afterward.

First off - what's the nature of your work? Does it require you to stare at the computer screen all the time? If it's so, that makes it even easier to fall asleepLike some have mentioned, a heavy breakfast & a light lunch might do you good. Normally heavy lunch will make one sleepy

Hi Ajay, Scientifically speaking what happens after you have taken your lunch is more blood rush towards the stomach and your head feels light and then you get sleepy. You can do one thing, if you have some acquainted people near by where your job place is tell them that you would love to spend or to say directly to take a nap. If they unerstand well and good and if not you have to adjust yourself. I also have your kind of problem. After lunch I sleep for half an hour or an hour. When I get up I feel fresh. But if I am outside and can not steal a moment I almost skip my lunch and instead I take very light food.

Personally I think a lot of people can relate with this one, as a lot of people feel tired usually an hr. or two after they have lunch or dinner, especially if they just had a big meal. But if this is something that is bothersome and happens no matter what, you might want to discuss it with a doctor just to make sure everything is OK. But do you also find yourself feeling or being bored, or does it happen no matter what you are doing?

ajaySionghBaghel have you ever been tested for diabetes? I ask as its another symptom often overlooked being sleepy after lunch. If your blood glucose level is high and not normal you will feel very sleepy and groggy too.You will find it hard to do work that demands a lot of mental effort. Just to be safe do go ask your physcian for a simple blood test to check if you have normal blood glucose levels or you are ru nningin high. a mormal person will go up a bit after a meal but the insulin in your body will soon calm your blood glucose level down to normal. but if your insulin is not enough or your pancreas is not working efficentlyyou will have high blood sugare and be very sleepy and lethargic. so do go get a g a diabetes test to be sure. if you are normal it might just be the food you are eating.

Hi. AjaySinghBaghel. I am not sure why this is happening. It keeps on happening to me too, so I know how you are feeling. I will be alert and then the next thing that I know, I will eat lunch and I will get very sleepy. It happens almost everyday while I am at myLot. I hope that I can find out the answer to this question as well. When I eat, it is hard for me to stay up any longer. I will want to sleep and lay down right after I eat.

Reduced sunlight will affect people's moods,as will irregular sleeping schedules. Some people experience what doctors call"seasonal affective disorder"in which reduced sunlight causes a change in mood. Try getting outside daily, and go for a brisk walk for at least 20 min,or walk 3km,which might take more like 40 min.One could run that distance to save time,or ride bicycle for longer.

haha, i often take a snap after lunch, it's very good, after half an hour sleep, i feel so energic. If you can't take a snap, maybe you can drind a cup of green tea or have some peppermint candy, i think it can help you stay awake

HI Ajay Singh Baghel: I have this same problem that you mention and what really works for me is making and activity that helps my brain to keep working. For example, I take a piece of paper and a pen and I write a list of the things that I have to do for the rest of my day. This doesn't take me more than ten minutes but it makes me active and I can go on doing the things that I have to do for my job. ALVARO

I felt the same, absolutely the same. I can't keep myself sitting down, because it just make me super drowsy. I would like some exercise around the work place, or drink some coffee to keep me awake. That is just super tough after lunch time.
