Things are really dry here in Texas. We are under another Red Flag Warning tomorrow. Red flag watches and warnings mean that weather conditions are extreme for fires and fire behavior. Warm temps, low relative humidity and high winds all add up to equal very extreme fire behavior. Simply put......please check your weather forecasts, watches, warnings before doing any outside activities that could start a fire. Also be aware if your county is under a burn ban, if ya get caught it will cost you, fine and/or jail time! These activities include but are not limited to - outdoor welding, torches of any kind, grinders, anything that can send off sparks; pulling off into tall grass with your vehicle, the catalytic converter is veryy hot, and can/has started fires. Please be very aware, there as already been over 100,000 acres burned in Texas, there is 17,000 burning in Florida. If we do not get any rain, it will only get worse, and a very busy season for wildland firefighters. Do you keep up with the weather conditions in your area/state?

Well, because I don't do much outside, I think I'm pretty safe from starting a fire, but when the wind blows I do know that the risk goes up. Saturday I had to chase the roommate's hat because it blew off. I hear there's a chance of rain around here tomorrow, I hope it comes.

To really decrease the risk of dangerous fire weather, we need about a week's worth of slow, steady rain. We haven't had any measurable amounts here in months.
