In my opinion, what makes a relationship last is if there is genuine love and this entails TRUST to each other. Trust Respect Understanding Sincerity Time All is well if these are present and consistent in a relationship.

making a relationship work does not depend only on you. you may have your shortcomings but you and your partner should be a complement to each other. what one lacks, the other fills for it. in the course of the relationship, both will learn how to get along and deal with each other's personality.

Hi swissheart, Sometimes after a break up we need to take some time out to gather our thoughts and find within ourselves what we liked and did not like about our past partners. Sometimes getting into a new relationship shortly after a break up means that we bring with us a lot of baggage and at times not recognize off the bat that the person is not right for us. So I would say that once in a relationship at first signs that the relationship is not what we hope it to be to end it quickly instead of trying to fix something that is already broken to begin with. However, while in a loving and fun relationship and things begin to go bad we must equally work hard to maintain it because it is not a one sided relationship. Best of luck and I do wish you well.

Maybe you are not made for long term relationships. But I was once told by somebody, that if you really want something, you will do everything to get it. According to this, you are not willing strong enough to have a long term relationship. I don't know if this is the case with you, but it is only a presumption.
