What have we become

Didnt the creation of the United States of America come about due to the rule of a King? Didnt we fight, starve, die in the name of freedom and equality? Out of our short time as a country, we have dealt with much diversity and in my opinion have improved. We do not allow slavery ( I know this happens but it IS illegal), women have the same rights as men (this is not a feminazi issue). So my big issue here is the "royalty factor". how is it ok for politicians to exempt themselves from the laws they right? To make more money than an average citizen but is considered a "public servant"? Will we, like France rise up and revolt? What are your thoughts? Do you think Washington has much too much power? Or are you happy with this? Please do not make this a Republican/Democrat thing, I think we can all agree that this is an all around issue. Both sides have ruled for too long. What are your thoughts?

If we are not careful we are going to dissolve into anarchy soon. People are pulling in every different direction. Everyone wants stuff for themselves. It is an ego centric society. Gimme, Gimme Gimme, I want it all, and I want it now, and I want it for free. During the wars to end all wars, everyone was willing to sacrifice for the guys fighting to save us all from the "enemy". What do you think would happen if someone suggested that we put even one of our cars up n blocks today to save gas and rubber for the wars going on now? What about limiting ourselves to one or two pairs of shoes a year...lol Right, no one would do that. Or rationing sugar, bread, flour, oil, etc. for the soldiers overseas. We are a piggy society. Just think, maybe we would not be such an obese society if we had ration books again... Did I get off subject again? Sorry.

Another good link to a video that explains why American education has failed, and puts forth the question of, was it deliberate? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PE7VHDLnYw&feature=related I feel we have been conditioned to be apathetic. Of course, some of us more than others. Will we be able to resist what is taking place? Has our culture been manipulated by those who wish to destroy us as a nation? I know it seems like an unlikely happening. But in searching for answers as to why we have gone from the foremost superpower in the world to the brink of disaster in one generation, I can not but at least give some credence to a plot, a conspiracy if you will. If that makes me a nutcase, so be it. The psychological impact of facing utter ruin is complex. You mentioned anarchy, the descent into lawlessness. I believe that that was part of the plan all along. Most people do not want to admit that everything they hold dear is about to be lost. They respond with hate and fear. We are fed one disturbing news story after another, designed to keep us from knowing just who we should stand up to. I feel that those who are behind the economic and cultural fall of our country want anarchy, they then will have an excuse to clamp down and finalize the control they've been working on for the last few generations. It is up to those who can still think, to stop this descent into anarchy and not contribute to the hate and fear that is being fed to us.

I think our militias will be tested very soon. Debra, I agree, it is what we lovingly call social engineering and they have been doing this for generations. It is a sad state of mind that our country is in.

It's not okay for politicians to exempt themselves and I'm in support of a Constitutional amendment that limits Congressmen/Senators terms, and when they go home, there's no retirement or other special benefits. I just don't know how we force the Legislative Branch to do what's right/needed. Washington has way too much power and the States/People are losing it. And that's not want the Founders had intended. I don't like either major political party, but I'll probably go with which ever party says it wants to downsize the federal government...and so far, that looks like the Republicans/Liberatarians and there may be some others. I plan to keep voting until we get people who listen, fight, etc. I'm not planning a revolt at the moment.

I can't believe the debate going on right now about reducing the 2011 budget by $60B or $10B. What don't these Democrats understand? Did you hear Reed? We can't reduce the budget more because it would stop cowboy poetry? I can't believe my tax dollars are paying for cowboy poetry!

Sometimes I guess those politicians have too much power, and they have special privilege than our average citizens have. Who gave them the power, who gave them the money? We do. We pay tax, over too much tax. They can accept bribery, and they can have all the privileges that we grant them. What is fair?

It is the ability to tax that gives them this power. Time to get career politicians out.
