Changing careers

It has always been in my mind and heart to be a social worker, counselor or similar work wherein you put others first. But mind you guys i am an accountant. It still is a passion for me. Sometimes it cross my mind that someday i may blame myself for not doing anything about it. The "what if's" in my life. But i am scared and hesitant since that entails going back to square one. I have somehow established my accounting profession. Please advise and thank you!

hello,
You can still participate social works while having your job as an accountant.
Why join any charity group where in you can do social works during weekends.
I understand your principle and feelings "putting others first".
I am working as a call center agent and as well doing/participating social work.
I am with some charity institution for more than 13 years now.
I helped with orphanages,home for the aged and various medical missions too.
You can do that,just a matter of time management without quitting your present job.
Your good thoughts will always give you strength to help other people.

I was gonna say the exact same thing.
You are a professional, you can make time for some social work. Try it out. Once you get the hang of it you turn full time. You don;t have to give your profession to "put other first."

Well, maybe you need to reevaluate your life, and your situation and decide what is best for you, and what you're really wanting most in your life. Maybe you can figure out a way to be able to go back to school to get your Social Worker degree and do accounting and book keeping on the side. That is a good topic of interest to have and be knowledgeable and trained in at any time.
But seriously I find it best for someone no matter their age, or time in their life if they have a Dream or a goal they always wanted to see achieved maybe this is the time to take the next step and get there.
