No Closing for GITMO? Obama restarting trials there?

Ok Democrats, where are the calls for impeachment of Obama? Where is that outrage that you feigned when Prs. Bush did these things?
This reminds me of the Valarie Plame BS. The Bash Bush Bus cried out so loudly while they thought they had something on Bush and Cheney, but when it was just Richard Armitage at fault, you fell silent.
So what of it, Democrats, where is your outrage?
"..And we'll end illegal wiretaps, close Guantanamo, restore habeas corpus and reject torture without exception." Barrack Obama

Once again, the most unfair thing you can do to Obama is take him at his word.

As an alternative to Gitmo, Ted, just what would you suggest? Our congress won't allow the detainees on American soil, no other country is willing to accept them, and we can't just keep them forever locked up in limbo. They are considered prisoners of war and are to be accorded a just judgement.

I don't think you get it yoyo. This isn't about Ted's stance on the issues. It's about the simple fact that Obama lied through his teeth. He used these issues to bash Bush and the left kept calling Bush a war criminal. Now Obama has broken his word, and is doing the exact same thing as Bush, yet the left is eerily silent.

Exactly Taskr. How is Bush a war criminal for this, but Obama isn't?

Yoyo, what I think should happen?
I think that any benefit from not classifying them as EPWs have pretty much been lost to politics. So I would reclassify them as EPWs and be done with it.
What would this mean?
It would mean they would be subject to the Geneva Convention...
They could be held until up to 6 months after the war ends.
Only those who are members of a military, with distinctive uniforms and insignia would qualify for Geneva protection.
It would be against Geneva to put any who qualify under Geneva on trial.
Those who don't qualify for prisoner of war rights under Geneva would be given no protection under it.

I don't think he intentionally "lied", I think he'd truly thought it would be easy to just close Gitmo. I don't think he'd have said he was going to close it immediately upon taking office if he knew he wasn't going to do it. That doesn't stop me from being pretty pissed off right now, in all honesty! I'm disappointed and I'm angry but that doesn't mean I now "hate" the President or think he should be impeached.
I think if there hadn't been such an outcry about bringing the detainees into the US and trying them here it would have been closed long ago. About Valerie Plame, it wasn't just Armitage at fault. What was Libby convicted of? I still think Karl Rove and D1ck Cheney should have been indicted.
Annie
P.S. Richard Cheney's nickname got me in trouble with the myLot censors again!

Libby was convicted of lying to the Federal Authorities - he gave one date and the reporter gave another date and neither had proof of the date. Libby got charged and convicted, the reporter was not charged.
President Obama is good at coming up with grand ideas, but that is as far as he can go. Look at what he has done with "Great Program Ideas" only to have it fall apart. The Stimulus bill did not keep unemployment below 8%. He gave the idea to this team and they created a monster that no one has been able to figure out where the money went. The Health Care Bill was put together with every staffers pet ideas in it and they created a 2000 page bill that ever now people do not understand what is in and what is out of the bill. In order to make it work they used accounting tricks and juggling the books in such a way that Enron looks like childs play. The Financial Reform Bill is now denying credit to those who need it most and forcing them to turn to loan sharks. His alternative fuel plans to use corn ethanol is driving up the cost of everything and is not producing a fuel that can be used with out large government subsidies.
He is either very cleaver and has lied to us or he is in way over his head and does not have a clue of what to do.

Thank you Annie! I'm not calling for Obama supporters to all of the sudden hate him over this, I just wonder why it was so outrageous for Bush to do it, but then so many Obama supporters shrug it off, or make excuses when Obama does it.
You aren't doing either. Disappointment, even anger is better than hypocrisy.

You are oh, so right, annie. (about the Gitmo)
I also think that Cheney and Rove had a big chunk of responsiblity in the Plame incident but of course, they got a pass. But I think DC's pass is about to run out. I just don't think he's much longer in this world.
(that's why I used initials)

Oh just wants to be re-elected. If and when he wants, he will go back to what he has always been, a far left, commie in all but name and will want Guatanamo closed, the prisoners given civilian trials or put in regular prisons so they can concert all those sociopaths and murderers and thieves behind bars so instead of being reformed and taking regular jobs, they turn into terrorists.
Oh I do not believe him. He just has pre election fear.

Who the heck left the mess?? After torturing, holding human beings without charging them with any crime, taking away their freedoms without benefit of trial ... torture ... why it's no wonder President Obama needs the time to determine what if anything those detainees held by Bush, Inc. can be actually tried for ... what a mess to hand over to your predecessor!
The DOJ will continue to file through this mess ... it takes time .. just as it will take time to right America's economy .. thanks to years of Bush, Inc.!

The fact that Obamabots refuse to hold him responsible for anything he does proves how mindless you all are.
Newsflash, Bush isn't responsible for ANYTHING Obama decides to do! He is his own man and runs his own administration.
It makes me wonder if Obamabots are willing to hold themselves responsible for their own actions. It reminds me of little kids who always seem to blame someone else for their actions.
If it was a crime when Bush did it, then it's also a crime for Obama... If you say it isn't a crime for Obama to do it, then you admit that it wasn't a crime for Bush.
Otherwise, you're just as big a liar as he is.

Yoyo, the mindlessness is making excuses for Obama when she condemns Bush so harshly over the same actions.

Now, let's not get nasty, Ted. I for one am NOT mindless. Did she say that Bush is responsible for what Obama does? Nah, I don't think so. Bush is responsible for Obama having to walk off the inauguation dias and into deep sh1t and having to deal with that right off the bat.
If it was a crime when Bush did it, then it's also a crime for Obama... If you say it isn't a crime for Obama to do 'it', then you admit that it wasn't a crime for Bush. What is the it, here? I knew you'd get this statement in here somewhere after I refused your little fishy bait earlier.
