i just want to know if its good to keep rabbits from mating? We have a pair of rabbits but the owner has refuse to let it mate. There was three but one died.he mistakenly put the male and the female together where they mated and she got pregnant. We didnt know until it gave birth but all died because they fell out of the cage.Since then they have been separated and hasnt mated.I think that was a year ago. What do you think should we allow them to mate?

We had 3 girl bunnies, I say had because we found out the hard way that one was a boy! So now we have 2 girls and 1 boy! We lost all the babies but this is because its still winter here and the rabbits are all the same litter. They are now seperated. I did want to add to one comment here and that is the mother rabbit will eat the babies too when they get so old. Personal experience. Before you ask about matting your rabbit you should know what are you going to do with all the babies? Homes? keep them? (they multiply very fast!) sell them? you must have a plan first. We have a farm store in our next town over and they will buy the rabbits and resell them. Nice income for kids if you can get them to give their pets up!

the best thing for both rabbits would be to get fixed then they could live together. rabbits that are fixed have a longer life expectancy as well as female rabbits whom have given birth in the past and are not spayed usually have rather short lives. breeding the rabbits i would not advise as even then you will have to separate them as the male(buck) will kill the babies in order to breed the female (doe) again. not to mention rabbits can have a number of complications when pregnant and as they are high stress animals have a whole list of problems that can happen with both the doe and the babies (kits) once they are born. The safest and best thing for both rabbits would be to get them fixed then they can live together quite happily and much healthier

if we want our rabbits to breed, then we must allow them to be mated. but it makes a rabbit breed is not as easy as we think.
