In my opinion this is kind of a double edged sword, sure the internet is great for all sorts of things, many of which you've already listed, but it also does hurt certain sectors, take newspapers for example, print media and the hundreds if not thousands of jobs it supports have taken a huge hit due to the ease of researching current news online. You also have to take into consideration, all the mom and pop businesses that use to be able to compete in the market place that have gone under due to online retailers and their ability to not only source product faster but also for cheaper. In some ways I feel that the internet is going to be the catalyst that causes many of our local brick and mortar businesses to close up shop further compounding the current economic problems facing this country. Thats not to say there is nothing good to come from the internet, I myself make additional income using several different online means. Also as a consumer the advent of the internet has been a god send allowing virtually anyone to find and purchase products at or below wholesale prices. The problem I see though is with the current infrastructure supporting the internet and the vast number of potential weak points this creates for us and our allies. Its been documented time and again over the last several years as more and more frequently our government and their private contractors have seen potentially malicious hackers gain entry into their secure systems. While I personally embrace technology and look forward to further innovations

Sorry accidentally hit post comment... As I was saying, while I personally embrace technology and look forward to further innovations, one does have to wonder what our government is doing to keep our personal information secure.

yea..even today the credit card security is a potential threat to the users online since the banker's are providing enough security to our identity and our data abt the card is easily obtained by the seller. I saw this news in the Articles which says emphasis should be given on security which will make our system more strong and theeby secure.

It makes people lazy. However..more serious...just think. This world is now based on the internet for literally almost everything. What happens if the internet goes down? Some receptive tower goes out..some little something falters...the world would collapse! I mean, banks couldn't do business, yeah okay, but you couldn't pay your bills online, makes contact with others, take care of business done online...the possibilities are endless of what could happen...should the WWW have any kind of "issue". Scary.
