Girls are born, you take care of them. They grow up and them she has to go away to start her new life. Still girls are more affectionate and caring to their parents even from miles away. Its difficult for parents to let there child go into unknown hands. No doubts that boy would stay forever with the parents. Why is there such a bias for baby boy. Is it just the agony of having her let go? Please share your opinions about this topic.

In my home country there is meant to be equality for boys and girls. There is a saying about a man being close to his mom until he gets a wife. The vast majority of grown up ladies I know are close to their mom. I know some guys that only see their mom once a year at Christmas time. Most ladies trying to get pregnant in my home country just wish to have a healthy baby. If the lady already has a child she might hope for the opposite gender so that she will end up with both genders in her family. In the case where the lady has two or more of one gender she might be very keen to get the opposite gender. Before I had my children I would have been happy with one baby girl. Though before getting her I got two boys.

you are lucky so am I to have two kids with opposite gender. Though our current generation is more open mined as you mentioned. Here there are different reasons for our elders to wish for a boy. Like someone to run the family tradition, family business, someone to be with parents when parents are old. There is also a fear of losing the beloved daughter into unknown hands. Things are changing with time. But still in villages it so happens that people end up having 5-6 girls in wish for a boy. This results in improper nutrition and education to so many kids. I hope things would change for good with time.
