Cricket is a great game - It can't be match fixing every time.

Match fixing in cricket is proved and we can not deny its existence. But labeling every action on cricket field as match fixing is tarnishing the great game and reducing the importance of anomalous behavior of the game. It has been seen time and again that when a set batsmen plays it is very difficult to dislodge him and then it does not matter whether the pair is from full member side or Associate member side. This has been seen in this tournament also many times. Take the case of Doeschate or O'Brien both took on the might of England almost single handedly. Then came the herculean partnerships from Ian Bell - Andrew Strauss and Dilshan - Tharanga. Lot of inferences are drawn when these players play some say ballers are useless, some say pitch is dead and others term it as match fixing but the fact of the case is the cricket is a great game and it behaves as per its vims and fancy otherwise there is no justification for the collapse that is witnessed once these set players get out. We have seen it in England India match we have seen it in yesterday's match. Let us accept one fact that cricket is a great game and not to tarnish it by labeling every turn it decides to take as match fixing.

Hi msdivkar, You seem to have great love and respect for Cricket. But the fact is that until it is proved none can deny that there was no match or spot fixing. This is not the era of Sir Bredman or Gavaskar. Things have changed a lot. When we are watching the match on TV or in the field with nail biting tension those on the crease are at ease. If a wicket falls we feel sad but the wicket that fell is happy. And you know Cricket is the easiest game for match fixing or pot fixing. People are getting less interested in cricket these days.

Dear Krajibg I do agree that this is not the era of Bradman and Gavaskar. I also agree that match fixing happens in cricket. But it is also possible in many other sports. Take Boxing for example, or say foot ball, or say hockey. You name a sport and mach fixing is possible. Singling out cricket as the only sport under the radar of match fixing is not fair. This recent issues of match fixing by players like Jayavardene is a little too over rated. It is just news channels saying things to improve viewership. Only desperate people resort to such actions. But if I am not wrong the players these days get paid handsomely. I personally think as a fan of cricket, that we should leave all these allegations and scandals to the officials. They have taken actions in the past, and they will in the future. Let us try and enjoy the game.. Share your views... Balu

I hundred percent agree with you balu. We shall continue to love the game as we did in the past. Let the players or the officials do as they feel appropriate. As about match fixing in the game I have already stated that We can not deny it as it has already been proved but what I want to stress here is every action on the cricket field is not fixed. It can not be. To day Bangladesh is on the verge of loosing to England, the game they should have won hands down when they were 3 for 155 and needed just 70 odd runs in 20 overs. Can you call it match fixing? No. It is glorious uncertainty involved with cricket as it is famously said no match is won or lost untill last ball is balled or last run is scored.

hello divkar, Yes, we all would love to enjoy the game. Accepted that match fixing is possible in all sports events but the exchange rate in cricket might be more than in any event. My question is would you like to admire a player after it is disclosed that he is involved in match fixing or something like that ? Impression on a person or a couple of them affects the game itself.

I think match fixing lies in every sport to some or the other extent. Only the fact that in cricket it seems to re-surface very often and ICC has thus far not taken real hard measures against this. I think until this happens this evil cannot be completely routed out. But as a sport, Cricket is a great game. Cheers! Ram

You are right in every sport this match fixing is there. In football it is still so much what people know about is just the tip of the iceberg.
