Tsunami

I am sure everyone would have heard about the massive earthquake measuring 8.9 magnitude and an ensuing tsunami measuring 10 meters that hit Sendai, Japan. At the same time, I think we need to remember the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami which devastated countries like India, Maldives, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Thailand - taking the most damages. Now, I hope that people will remember this and heed evacuation orders from the authorities which may hit affected areas. So far the countries named are: Philippines, Taiwan and Indonesia which I believed would have received warnings from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. It is also reported that alerts have even been issued to countries west and across the Pacific as far away as Colombia and Peru. Please heed and/or do the necessary if you are or have anyone who are going to be affected - this is certainly not a hoax! Hiya sky, A lot of Spanish People who work in Japan have been evacuated but a lot have chosen to stay there as they are not so affected by the quake and the radiation itself. They felt the quake too and have given graphic details of how it felt and what has been going on too. They work there so obviously they have thought a lot about it before deciding whether to leave for Spain or not. Spanish said it was terrifying for them and all the others. An experience they will never forget in their lives.

That was definitely not a hoax at all. My mother's bosses daughter is serving in the Navy right now and is stationed on the USS George Washington in Japan. Cindy was actually on the phone with her daughter when the quake hit so she was able to experience it vicariously through the phone line. Luckily all of the crew from the ship are safe, but they are going to be aiding in the cleanup measures from the tsunami for at least the next two months.

Hello Sky, Though thousands of the locals are being evacuated from the Areas Affecting by the Tsunami, am not sure if any one can be far off. If Japan experience that high, trouble with this thing can also cost lives by my people because some can be HARD HEADED. i think most of the strong tsunami is going to hit Hawaii instead. but reports that we are still getting waves from Japan.

LetranKnight25, I don't suppose we can tell what's on other peoples' minds and I think you will agree with me that we just do not have the time second guessing them. Since the last fateful tsunami in 2004, I believed that many countries have collaborated to install the tsunami warning beacons to forewarn affected countries so that they could do the necessary evacuation and prevent another repeat of devastation. It is my hope that people will not start being cynic when ordered to evacuate to a safe place. This is for real and their own good. Japan is already bearing the full brunt of both the earthquake and the ensuing tsunami, so I hate to see unnecessary loss of life when authorities are doing the right thing.
