What? No Valet?

Some may recall that here at p1ke Towers I have the service of a faithful retainer/butler/valet who goes by the name of "Creaky". He's over 100 years old and although I sacked him a couple of years ago there was such a palava about it that I rehired him as an act of charity. Subsequently I have discovered that there are some chaps out there that don't have any sort of servants at all! I find this astonishing. Surely no gentleman can possibly consider living without a "Gentleman's Gentleman". Who lays out your clothes; helps you dress and generally atends to your matters sartorial. I assume that the ladies out there all have lady's maids - don't you? If not, just how do you cope?

Oh dear I am afraid I must inform you that this girl does not have hired help at all. She unfortunately had to live by her username. Morning, noon and night. However, I keep asking Mr. Clean to come over but he is way to busy on TV!

Ah. Perhaps you had better start to hire some. You cannot possibly be a lady of leisure without servants.

I am heading over to the classifieds section now! Can't imagine my manicure being ruined for tonight's big gala.

Hurry because Vera Wang and Versace want to drop by and ask if you would please consider wearing one of their dresses this year. Chanel are clamoring to do your make up and Tiffany's say that they know that it is an awful imposition but they have a DARLING necklace and earrings set in silver and 24 carat diamonds that you simply have to wear. Plus Jimmy Choo is trying to make a Come back and knows you are just the right person to launch his new signature line. I have said that you have laundry etc, but they are being very persistent......

I have to make do with Mr Croc, we're not all rich and posh like you. Mr Croc is doing a really good job as a ladies maid.

He has the legs for it I'm thinking. Plus the love of a good woman. His wife is quite friendly in a snappy sort of way too! LOL.

Oh I do have my 'maids'...but they don't work they are supposed to and need more assistance from me than the 'help' I get from them:( I'm glad your 'Creaky' is working the way he is supposed to (btw..I missed the earlier discussion about your 'Creaky')

ha ha...good old Creaky, eh? :)So helpful! Your mother sounds like me. I pick up stuff and start cleaning before my maid gets here. At present I'm on full time duty....no help. I'm yet to find a replacement...but what better replacement than ME!!

Like yoyo, my maids are mechanical but they are very few. I even have a hand operated can opener as I can't stand the noise made by electrics. Sometimes I wish I did have a maid, especially when it is wet outside because Gus and Cookie drag in all kinds of mud on their paws. And today I should be doing laundry but I have no ambition, I'm kind of under the weather a little with a case of the blahs. It would be nice to have servants but I don't think I could maintain the demeanor needed to keep order!

If the servants are any good they don't need too much ordering. But you have to train them well. I find that a whip and a chair does the trick.

hi pikey tongue in cheek I hope? well now yes I have three helpers, they all volunteer, one is me as I sit back and let myself help me each day. She sometimes gripes at getting me up at 6 am for breakfast at 8.Also have me constantly telling myself hey almost time for this or that. But one good thing none of us have to be paid. lol lol I have wished that me and myself were not always so darned conscientious.jReally in a way all us residents here have personal maids in that a housekeeper comes in each day to change our linens vacuum our floor and clean our bathrooms too. oh yes one also does my laundry each week. lovely to have so mudh spare time to mylot. he he We also are cooked for and served by care takers. so much spoilness wow.

The only thing I have is an impressive collection of dust bunnies. Some of them are getting so big that maybe they will start doing something to earn there keep. Would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath.

Well I am so glad you have a charitable nature and re hired Mr Creaky, he sounds awsome. I myself do not have maids, I prefer the males like Mr Sheen Mr Muscle and a funny chap called Easy Off Bamm. They do work well around the house but I always have to give them a hand. They do smell nice . LOL. Cheers Sue

Hey pikey! How is dear "Creaky" doing these days? I do remember when you tried to sack the old man! Shame on you! I don't have any "help" although I sure could use some. My miserable bf made me clean the refrig, microwave last night and polish the furniture today as punishment for not doing any housework in weeks! He refused to do my laundry when he did his! If he doesn't do mine tomorrow he will not have any food to eat when and if I decide to go to the grocery store which I haven't done in a month either! Don't have anything to eat here either! Not the type of lady to mess with! He knows better....Will let you know what happens!

Hi Alice & P1key! When I re-read my post it really sounded bad!lol I am so not a woman to be told what to do so it really is funny! But, my bf was right, as much as I hate to admit. He does my errands while I sleep most of the day and he works. So, I deserved him to "try" to "punish" me. He did my laundry the next day, he paid for the taxi to and from the grocery store, and carried everything into the apartment! Now who do you think really won?

Well, that's just it! I do not cope at all! I go nuts trying to work out what colour underwear I should be wearing for any given day. I am wearing white today, but I am thinking that Monday may be more of a black day. I think I need my own "Creaky" to help me out, or perhaps a house elf would be even better!

That's why I have multicoloured underwear Bill. Saves a lot of hassle. There's always commando of course!

Don't you think he's to old for doing that sweetie? I can do everything myself, thank you.

Old? He's a servant. This is what he enjoys. I did once retire him. I put him out, it was raining so I even gave him an overcoat but people said that I should have treated him better so after a few weeks - and a truly terrible female butler - I took him back. He doesn't know any different. LOL.
