has a gift shop that includes symbols from a variety of religions. We have items from Bhuddism, Hinduism, Jewdiism, Christianity, Shamanism, and so on. She has had college courses in a variety of religions. I help out about once a month. It's a lot of fun to meet people of different faiths.
Years ago, I belonged to a meditation group that had different faiths. We would meditate about or on something and then discuss our religion's take on something and then what we learned during the meditation. I miss that group.
But this multicultural gift shop is great and fun. Some people call it new age.
So what religions do you know something about? Were you raised in those traditions? Were you called to that or those religions? Many people combine two or more religions. Is your religion one pure one or a combination?
I was raised Catholic, but I prefer Shamanism, New Age, and a loving Christianity. Some things in every religion ring true for me and some things do not.
What kinds of things ring true for you?

I was raised as a Hindu in a Muslim country...and attended a Catholic school. So, we didn't really practice all our traditional Hindu rituals at home. As an individual, I have a mixed outlook on religion. Though I'm not an expert on any religion, I find that most religions basically preach the same thing....about not harming anyone...and doing away with hatred towards other living beings.I personally feel that most of the rituals associated with religions are just that- rituals! They do give the ambience and feeling of inner peace which then helps us to organize our thoughts.

Hindu in a Muslim country must have been difficult. Catholic school must have been confusing.
I agree about the basics.
I don't have much for rituals. I probably should. I sometimes use meditation tapes from different religions so I can sleep at night. That's probably my inner peace. Thanks.

Hindu in a Muslim country wasn't really difficult. My parents weren't very strict and our religious activities were restricted to home. But Catholic school was confusing and I was more influenced by it than my own religion (my parents not being strict might be a reason for that). In time, I figured out something which was a mix of my religion and a bit of Christianity which I am comfortable in. I don't impose on my kids...but I give them more exposure to Hinduism because my husband is against the other forms of religion. They are free to choose as they grow and learn more.

I think you are a wise parent.
Too bad he's against any other forms of religion. My Mom was Catholic and against most forms of religion until we had a Priest who was best friends with a Minister.
I'm restricting my practices to home and the multicultural shop that I help out in once a month. Sometimes my woods, too. I feel that's very confining and not fair to me considering I'm living in America where freedom of religion is supposed to be protected. But on the other hand, if you're not Christian here, with some people and in some areas, you have to be careful.

I was raised Baptist/Methodist..I suppose I am no particular denomination now. I have always been curious about religions and cultures too. I know a little bit about a lot..lol..I suppose that the thing that rings true for me is that most all religions worship a higher power and that love means the same thing no matter what language it is said in...it's the actions of people that prove it.
I think a multiculteral gift shop is a wonderful idea and I bet it is amazing to meet people and learn about their religions. I would have a blast working there.

um! I coated your discussion line that i feels little bad abt "We have items from Bhuddism, Hinduism, Jewdiism, Christianity, Shamanism, and so on." you don't even include Islam in Religions list, for your kind Information, Muslims are 1.9 Billion in world, Second Largest Religion of the world, so next time must include Islam as a Religion. I live in Pakistan, & I raised as a Muslim (Alhumdullilah), I like all humans, But I am 100% sure Islam is Truth & right so I am not curious at all, sry for my bad english, have a nice day.

I wrote the items that are included in the store. Right now, in America, if we had items from Islam or Muslim, we would probably be bombed by Christians. So no, it's not on my list. For your information, we have Christians who are equally sure that their religion is 100% truth and right. They aren't curious at all. I did not start this discussion to upset 1.9 billion people in the world.
The reason why I start my religious discussions in the Pagan area is to keep out people who are anti-Pagan. Usually that's people who are very sure their religion is 100% correct and don't want to have anything to do with other religions. Given your beliefs, why did you respond to a Pagan discussion at all? Someday, when the world is more curious and loving, maybe the Christian and Jewish items will be able to be next to Prayer rugs, and other items of your faith. At one time, I belonged to a store where they were. But since the bombing of 9/11, most people are afraid to do that. Which is too bad, there were many people who went through fair trade and made many beautiful items for the store that was before this one. I hope they were able to find other markets. Even then, a friend of mine wanted me to try on an item I recognized as the headwear (not sure how to spell Koofi) worn by Muslim men and I would not. Items from other religions need explantations in order to be shown proper respect and the items weren't so labeled.
Someday, I hope that love and understanding governs all people of all religions. Until then, my discussions are for people who want to promote understanding. Not the fringe elements in each one that are anti-all other religions but theirs. So I hope we will be able to have items in her store that represent 1.9 billion people in the world, with proper explanations. But it will take a long time before 9/11 goes out of the hearts and minds of others. Besides, most Muslims either make their own items or have their own shops here.
I went to college with a wonderful young lady from Iran during the Iranian crisis. She suffered greatly here. She felt she could never go back to her country. Many Christians tried to convert her. She told them, "There were other books of truth, not just your Bible, until you've read mine, how can you know your book is the only truth? I've read yours and you haven't even bothered to read mine." That was a terrific response and why she was my friend. She was only here to get an education to hopefully go back and get a better job or get a job here and send money back home. Her heart and actions were pure. She did better up here where people are of different religions. She moved down south and they really only tolerate Christianity in many places, not even in cities are they open minded. Some military areas are more open-minded, some. She had to get a lawyer to have her landlord put heat, water, electricity back on once he found out she was Muslim. So she was a woman without a country. I lost touch with her since then, she probably had to flea quickly.
I have no problem with your English being different from American or British standards. My people came from France and their English was much like yours for a time. Let me help you with your English as I would not want to write your language, if I knew it, incorrectly:
I coated your discussion line is close, I will quote this sentence from your discussion.
I feels little bad abt
I feel a little bad about
Islam is the second largest religion in the world.
I have heard there are translation programs that help people communicate more effectively in English. Some may be free. Perhaps you have friends that could help you find one.
I am glad you like all humans. I'm sure there are people from all religions, Christians, Jews, etc. who also like all humans. That is my hope for the future. That all humans will like all humans.
I was having a nice day, but I find people who are 100% sure that their religion is right and all the rest of us are wrong interupt my nice day.
