Hello myLotters! I was just recently talking with some friends about making a little extra cash. They told me that I should begin tutoring people in Mathematics because I enjoy it and I'm very good at it. But, the only problem is I don't know how to start? How would I go about getting people to sign up for my lessons? Thanks!

I would suggest contacting one of your local schools. Depending on the level, meaning grade school, junior high or senior high, would determine who to contact. Posting a listing on Craigslist but also be a good idea. Good luck and hope you do well. carolbee

Thanks for this! I guess I never really thought about going to actual schools! Haha! Much appreciated!

Are there tuition agencies near you. You might want to consider joining them to know the syllabus to teach before going solo. You will also tap upon their brand name to speed up getting students. When you are more experienced, the students will find you when you are on your own. Tuition will pay well in the long run too. All the best.

I don't believe there are any tutoring agencies in my area, but I'm not positive. I'll look around and ask some friends of mine if there are some. Thanks!

I would post free classifieds in your neighborhood paper. If some nearby grocery stores, and libraries allow it I would post it there too. You can create flyers and place them in vehicles at malls too. How about your neighborhood church, colleges, etc.. Because you good at it many especially students would definitely jump at it. Best of luck.
