Dear All,
The much awaited match between India and South Africa lived up to its hype. But sadly, team India finished on the losing side after the best start possible.. It was more like snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. From a position of 267 for 1 to 296 all out, it was an amazing bit of application. (:P). It was a combination of some good bowling and some mindless batting that led to this situation.
One cannot blame the the tail- enders for not sticking around, when the middle order should have done the job. It was the perfect platform to make bat the South Africans out of the match My heart goes with Sachin Tendulkar. Twice he as scored centuries in this world cup, and gave the best possible start and still his team could not win. I do not know what more he should do. Zaheer and Harbhajan bowled well to keep India in the game. But the rest of the bowlers did not provide enough support. My question is why can't the Indian bowlers bowl yorkers. The 49th over by Zaheer had six yorkers which produced four runs. The 50th over had Ashish Nehra bowl two length deliveries which ended up with ten runs. It is amazing how Zaheer is the only fast bowler in the Indian team who uses his brain....!!! Dhoni does not do anything top stop the run flow at anytime when the power play was not taken. He did not have more than four in fielders for the most part of the game... I just believe 296 is still a defensible total if pressure is applied...!!!!
One more point that I would like to make is that Dhoni still did not play R. Ashwin. I just wonder what Ashwin is doing in the squad, since he has not featured even in one match. Some things just never add up with Dhoni's captaincy...
A lot of credit shoulf be given to Steyn for bringing South Africa in the match. At one time it seemed as if India would reach some where close to 400. AB de Viliiers who has been in blistering form kept them in the hunt and Pieterson finished of the match with a six...!!!
I just hope that India and Dhoni learn from the mistakes and hopefully they get their bowling attack correct... may be some one can remind the bowlers (Munaf Patel and Ashish Nehra) how to bowl YORKERS...!!! And may be some one can pressurize Dhoni to play Ashwin.

I think your headline sums up the match perfectly. I think it was a brilliant start by India led by messrs. Sachin and Sehwag. I think Sachin was magnificent for his 99th international century. The other batsmen barring Gambhir really let him down. Our bowlers have been really poor thus far and had another bad day yesterday to lose the match in the last over.
Overall it was a good win for South Africa.
Cheers!

Dear Ram,
I agree... It was a wonderful win for South Africa. They have been known to choke in pressure situations. But this match would have given them immense confidence.
I just hope that team India gets its bowling attack correct, and maybe some one can remind the pacers (barring Zaheer), the importance of bowling yorkers. None of the Indian bowlers, other than Zaheer bowled any during the course of the match...

Well everything is not lost for India. Still, India needs to pull up its socks and act accordingly.

Dear Prithika,
I agree India has not lost everything yet.. The Indian team might still enter the quarter finals. But the point is from now on no game can be taken lightly....
I just hope the team understands that...
