So, I started the week, checking my email correspondence at work. One caught my attention, an email from my boss about a vending machine complaint. It is about a complaint made by an employee and part of the email says: "FYI that today, I had a cockroach in my coffee which I had bought on the vendo at the pantry, just now. I already drank 1/4 of the iced coffee when I chewed on something crunchy and found that it's a small brown (same color as the coffee) cockroach." Well as of today, all vendo machines were temporarily closed. Have you ever had a similar experience about having "unwanted" ingredients on your food or on your drinks? What did you do about it?

I never found anything in a coffee or a drink, but I remember a discovery in canned peas -- coincidence with your user name -- : there was a little toad in the box. I indeed did not ate the peas and sent a photo to the consumers' service : I received a letter of apology with a parcel of their canned products.

I wonder if the toad was alive? Wow, sometimes you really don't know if you will be happy with such an experience. Since sometimes the compensation that a company has to give to make up for it is just mind boggling!

You got it right thatgirl! She actually chewed on it! A funny incident also happened with my co-worker. He was buying coffee from the vendo machine but only got milk instead. Here is another one, my co-worker bought coffee from the vendo. It seems he didn't read the note on the vendo that there are no cups available. So, he put some money on the vendo and saw his coffee spilling freely on the vendo. There goes his money without his coffee!

Hmm so getting only milk seems to be a common problem . And lol the other one sounds really funny. The vending machines seem to be making our lives interesting lol. Take care.

This could definitely put a damper on your day. I would freak if i found a cockroach in my beverage. I would be dumping out my drink and the chances of me getting my beverage from the same place would be very slim.

Indeed. You wouldn't let thunder strike on you twice. Although it can happen, you can at least avoid it.

A lot of complaints are just baseless but the one you got is a very valid one. I don't know how much damage control you'll do but you have to think of one right now, if word spreads then i don't think you'll have customers queuing up with any of those vendo machines. Luckily, i don't have that kind of experience yet otherwise

The word had spread actually. The issue was raised to the proper department to act upon. The vendos had been temporarily made unavailable. The incident had been quite a recent joke lately. Although it is really not a joke to have bugs on your coffee.

Eeewww! I mean really disgusting! What the heck was the cockroach doing in your cup of coffee right? I haven't had such experience yet. That is so terrible. But there was once a particular news about it where a reporte of one of our local tv networks happened to dine in a particular fastfood near her place and she saw that at the bottom of her cup there were bits of rat feces. That was so yucky! She was hospitalized after wards and the fast food was given its ample bad reputation for its sanitation. It was closed immediately until they were able to get a new sanitation permit and pass all the tests necessary for a fastfood restaurant like those.

We have shows like that on TV, exposing the unhygienic practices of some businessmen. Usually when those shows come-up, we usually for a time stay away from patronizing them.

Oh yikes and that is terrible. A few years ago I was drinking a Coke Cola from the can, something I rarely do because I don't like the aluminum taste when I sip it. So as I was sipping I felt something weird. Long and behold a small piece of glass. So I contacted the Coke company and they sent someone to pick up the piece of glass and I never found out how it got their or what ever came of it but was given 12 free certificates for 12 packs of 24 cans. Perfect timing a friend was having a party and many enjoyed them. lol But your case is wow, and awful though, although what if I would have swallowed the piece of glass.

Wow! What a way to compensate! I think it is their way of keeping the issue silent so as not to create any unwanted public attention to their company. Although, what if you accidentally had swallowed it, what more can they give? A truck of coke?

hi sweet pea my incident was not quite that awful but I was on a bus trip back to my home state. we were in cheyenne Wyoming and the bus stopped at the local coffee house for a break. So we all ordered various things. it was a hot day so I ordered a chocolate ice cream soda. the sodea was fine until My straw hit something hard. I took the long handled ice cream spoon and fished out a large bolt. I showed it to the waitress who turned red, oh my she said I used the wrong glass. she quickly made me another chocolate ice cream soda in an empty clean glass. I was not too worried as at least it was not a bug carrying viruses. But I realized the bolt could have had any sort of virus on it so it was wise not to drink the rest of the soda. lol. live and learn. Now a roach whould have had me heaving I am sure.

Hi. sweet_pea. EWW! This is so nasty! I could not imagine how he felt when he saw this cockroach in his coffee And then he actually chewed on it. UGHHH!! When I was pregnant in 2005, I was at the laundromat while my husband was washing our clothes. And I was drinking some cold milk. While I was drinking it, I was so thirsty because it was so hot!!! And I happened to look inside of my cup. Inside was a black bug of some sort! I was like, ughhhhhhhhhhh! I became so disgusted and I threw my cup in the trash can without a thought!! My guess was that, a bug just so happened to fly in my drink. It was hot during this time and I know that many nasty bugs were out and about in this hot weather. When I go out for now on with an opened drink, I make sure that it is in a bottle with a tight cap on it!

Yeah, it pays to check things out before we eat or drink anything. Although, it can really be difficult if you are really really hungry or really really thirsty. We wouldn't care less anymore if we already have consumed it. Let's just hope we wouldn't end up in the hospital.

Hi, It is so disgusting to have this small insects in our drink. SO far, it never happened to me and I hope It won't never happened to me. Or else, I might vomitted out the drink/food I have eaten before. It is very dirty and I always tell myself to really look carefully on food/drink before I consume.

It is a nice practice to check on your food and drinks before you consume it. There may be unwanted ingredients mixed on them.

That's disgusting! I never trust those vending machines that has to mix its ingredients to make their product. I've had bad experiences with machines that make hot chocolates. But it is more about the proportion of the mixture not turning right, not in the magnitude of a foreigh object! And specially not one that used to be alive.

Yeah, my co-worker used to complain that it doesn't taste like what he'd expected. Sometimes, there's too much milk in his coffee. He was telling me about an incident when he bought coffee but only had milk instead. So he asked some refund for his coffee.

A nail?! What's a nail doing on your food? And to think it is rusty. Good thing your friend has a tough stomach. Otherwise he might have ended in a hospital.

That is so gross! I can't imagine myself having cockroach on my coffee. It's so disgusting. Anyway, I haven't had any experience as worse as that. Earlier though, while I was eating my food at one of the newly-opened fastfood chain near the place i work, I saw a strand of hair with my rice. I almost lost my appetite but still since the hair is so small, I still ate my food 'cause I was so hungry.

Indeed! Just thinking about how you crunch the roach on your mouth is quite disgusting! In my country there is a show which shows unhygienic practices of retailers. My goodness! You can't imagine how some greedy businessmen would sacrifice health safety for profit! Just so disgusting!
