India still not confirmed its place in quarterfinals.

India still can miss the bus to quarter finals of the ongoing world cup cricket with certain permutations and combinations. If India loose their last match in preliminary round due to be played on 20th against West Indies, which is not a big thing to happen, if Bangladesh win both their encounters one against Ireland and other against South Africa, England beat West Indies and South Africa beat Ireland. Under this scenario South Africa, West Indies and Bangladesh will all be 8 points and England and India would be on 7 points each. The competition then would be between India and England for the fourth place and it will be decided on net run rate. The possibilities discussed above are difficult ones but not impossible ones. It is shame that the team tipped to be the winner of the cup by the majority has to wait till last moment to confirm the qualification to the quarter finals.

Hi Dear Msdivkar! Amongst these "Ifs" and "Buts" India has to win against West Indies to keep its birth intact in the quarter final!Otherwise we need to again depend upon the mercy of other teams and would get an entry in quarter finals which would be an shameful thing for so called as the Favorite Team in World Cup 2011, tournament! Thanks !

Thank you akrao. India has to win the match against West Indies more to reestablish themselves than to reach the quarters. At this time they have lost the confidence of their supporters. They have to get it back by a thumping win against W.I.

Mathematically, you are right, they are not yet confirmed a spot in the quarter finals. But I am pretty sure that they will definitely make it to the quarters and also progress further. So I am resting pretty easy on this aspect. Cheers! Ram

No from my point 99% India already make to the Quarters but there is 1% chance of getting out of tournament...No i think India already through to the Quarters...Because india got 7 points and their net run rate is also good...and if they beat west Indies then for sure there is no more questions to be asked...

You are right what I mentioned has only 1 % of possibility. Every body knows that India is already through but this possibility do exist technically.
