its not fair

its really not fair for my tax returns to be taken form me to pay child support. I'm not saying that I'm one of those dead beat dads that doesn't want to pay. the whole started when my girl was getting state support for our unborn child while i was in a government funded school. when i got home form school my child was born and then, then stop giving her money because i was home. they were taking money out of my paychecks to pay that debt off. i was later sent a letter say that they were going to take my Maine state tax return. now they just took my federal return, without saying anything to me. i think that its unfair that they did that. my and my girl friend were planning on using that money to buy another car, but not anymore so now we're with out a car now. i just want to know what you think of this.

Sorry you are going through this and may I say I have a guy friend who his wife was secretly receiving State Aid without his knowledge and one day they not only fined him immensely but was super penalized both from taking his taxes for almost 6 years and wage assignments to his weekly check and all because his now ex wife did not at the time tell him she was doing this. Unfortunately she broke the law and he suffered the consequences.
So I suppose that they taking your taxed is a trade for the assistance they provided early on and I guess I can only say and hope your amount was small for because my friend has suffered immensely and all because his wife was greedy.
So this being a mutual decision between your girl and you look at is as a trade, move on and allow life to get better for the both of you.

It sucks but that is the price you pay for help from the government. They paid for your child when you were unable to. Papers signed when signing up for help do give them permission to do this. Technically, you should have been supporting your child but since you did not, they did. They are just getting paid back what is due them. It sucks but it's fair.
