South Africa make short work of Netherlands.

South Africa today made a short work of Netherlands today played at Eden Gardens Calcutta. All the hype this team gathered around itself after beating England and giving tough fight to India wa punctured to day by S.A. beating them by whopping 131 run margin. Netherlands after winning the toss put S.A. into bat. They must have thought themselves to be better chasers as they did with England. South Africa put on a formidable total of 272 for seven in 50 overs with J.P.Duminy top scoring with 99 runs. Netherlands in reply could manage only 141 runs loosing all their wickets in just 33.2 overs. Morkel and peterson claimed 3 wickets each. South Africa now lead the group B with 8 points followed by India on 7.

BTW, Divkar it was not Netherlands but the Irish that was playing against South Africa. I think South Africa were pretty much relieved by the final result. They were in trouble while batting but Duminy and Ingram bailed them out. Again Ireland started pretty decently and then lost quick wickets to lose the match easily.

Hi msdivkar,
Beating England was the first stimuli for the Irish players. This led to their better performance against India. But to day batting second they helped the SA team to take rest and unhappy to the sponsors of the game.
That they could not stand South African bowling attack as they seemed to have pre notion of losing the game against South Africa.
