How can I get a PAN card?

I am not employed yet, so i didn't care about getting a pan card.But now i need that urgently.So where can i get the form for that and what all are required as identity proof?How long will it take to get the card?

You can either apply in person or through a Chartered Accountant. CA usually take charges on top of what you need to pay the Income Tax department. However, I find this worth it as they save the time, the boredom and frustration of visiting government offices. If you want to apply by yourself, you need to fill in Form 49A, go to www.incometaxindia.gov.in That is the official website for the Income Tax, India. You will be able to download the form from http://law.incometaxindia.gov.in/DITTaxmann/IncomeTaxRules/pdf/itr62Form49A.pdf You need to have two documents. One as proof of identity and one as proof of address. You can use your voter's ID as proof of identity. For proof of address, any utility bill such as electricity or water bill from govt. recognised authority. You can get Employer's certificate, which can be used as Address proof. I hope that helps.

Oh, I forgot to mention, it usually take 7 to 14 days after you submit the application and documents to the office. They will courier it to your address. You can track the status of your application online as well.

Hi friend if u want to apply a pan card u can download a form in this site (https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pan/index.html)applying in this u will get pan card with in 15 to 20 days after application reached to office....
