One square leads to another

I was talking to someone yesterday who said that she treated herself to one square of chocolate a day. I don't have that willpower. With me it's the whole bar or nothing. It's a weakness I know. Do you give in to temptation or are you made of sterner stuff?

I give in, I rarely win an argument with myself about chocolate.

I have a giant Hershey bar in my kitchen drawer that my sister sent back with me. My mom had bought an entire box of them--she could eat chocolate and nearly everything else and not gain weight! I brought back 2 and gave one to a neighbor. That was nearly two weeks ago and I just opened it 3 days ago. 3 squares are gone, I just need a taste and I make it last 4 bites, letting it melt in my mouth. Yum!! That makes it enough. I didn't use to have the willpower, though, I could eat chocolate all day and want more. I'm glad to be free of that!

I have no willpower at all when it comes to choclate. There's no way i could stop at just a square of chocolate. I don't know how anyone can do it. i would not be satisfied until my chocolate treat was gone!

I couldn't stop with one square of chocolate. The sweetness makes me want more. I am much sterner when it comes to buying it in the first place though...if they aren't it my house I cant break down and eat it!

The purer the chocolate (at least 70% cocoa) the less is needed to satisfy.

Hey p1key! I guess it would depend on what exactly we are talking about.lol I can stick to "one square of chocolate" if I really set my mind to it! But, then there are times when there is something that I don't have very often (like cheesecake) that I'm not as sure I could trust myself with.

I think that eating some of the foods that one loves, but in moderation, can really help one to stick with a diet. Total denial can lead to a day of utter decadence and gluttony. Let us know when it's coming, and we'll get our cameras out. Can the Boss help with rationing treats? Might help in training areas

Hmmmmmm. In your opening of this discussion you said, "...she treated herself to one square of chocolate a day. I don't have that willpower." I'm thinking that you are either a politician, or that the Boss keeps your hands tied behind your back and uses a bit of duct tape in the right places, too?

I agree, it should be the whole bar! Lucky if I dont eat the whole box lol! I am really addicted to chocolates too, especially Japanese chocolates (Meiji in particular). I am more tempted and I cannot hold it till the chocolates are gone.

I'm an all or nothing kind of gal myself. I cannot eat just one of anything I really really like. I'm better off simply avoiding it completely than I am expecting myself to limit my intake.

LOL I soo know what you mean. I also cannot take just one bite if I know that there is still a whole lot more. I can however eat a whole bar and not eat the whole box if there ever was a boxful.^_^ I do set limits to myself but of course I dont sell myself short.^_^ Well, I guess its just a psychological thing. Think that you wish to eat everyday for health. You just eat enough food just to make you full and nothing more. When you're full, tell yourself that you're full even if there's still a bowlful of banana split on the table. Dont think that you cant eat it because you're on a diet or something. Just tell yourself that you're going to have one of those someday anyway. So you dont eat it at present and just look forward to eating it in the future. Thing is, you would eventually forget about that banana split. That's how I go about it anyway. Goodluck with those cravings!^_^

I think that your theory is right. I have lost 42lbs and reduced my chlorestrol count from 6 to 2.6 in five months. I only eat what wil cover the palm of my hand! That concentrates the mind. No breads, cakes etc etc.

I do not have the willpower to stop at one piece, which is not too bad really as we never have chocolate in the house or buy the stuff. Not regular store bought chocolate anyway. We do however have two friends that manufacture Raw vegan chocolate. One is local and the other interstate. We sell their chocolates over the winter months usually and when we have it in, my wife and I usually eat loads of it! Luckily we also manage to sell lots of it too. We are always excited when winter comes around and we stock it again, trying out all the new flavours, but then as winter is very short here, it son becomes too hot again for us to continue selling it and we go without once more!

Is "raw" chocolate sweet Bill? I can imagine that a hot climate and chocolate are not entirely compatible. Good job there are fridges'

Chocolate is not naturally sweet, so it depends on what you add to it. Some manufacturers use Agave nectar or Lucuma powder or dates to sweeten it. No, our climate and chocolate is not a good long term mix. The thing is that without chemical stabilisers in it, the chocolate melts faster than processed chocolate that you would buy in a store. It actually melts faster in the post too if it has been refrigerated and then gets exposed to normal temperatures, so we store it in a cool non refrigerated area. (well as cool as we can get it)

You can say that again! I have that thing for chocolates to but I control my appetite with chocolates now cause being pregnant makes you have this thing for chocolates and other stuff. I eat just one piece at a time cause I am saving it for later.

well,it's good for her, right. sometimes it would be good if everyone could be as strong willed, right :] that's good, though a little every once in awhile doesn't hurt, but on the other side you're right not to buy it as too much isn't healthy either. have a great weekend. :]
