I had a bomb dropped on me yesterday!

Now that I have you attention,I will explain! Yesterday I went to do my normal thursady morning feeding at the stable. While I was still feeding the ower comes down to talk to me. I knew she had been wanting to take to me. Anyway that is where the bomb comes in! The owner and her husband are in financial trouble, again! So they will have to tell all the people who work for them(they are boarders and then me) they can't anymore and I am one of them! The owner is planning to do that and then do all the feedings to save money! Then she tells me if that doesn't help with their money woes, they will close down the stables! Everyone would have to move their horses elsewhere and the owner would have to get rid of her horses, too! So at the end of the month I will be out of my part-time job! I am not happy! I think I could still have a job if the owners would know how to handle money better! Anyway I could go on and on about that! This is one of nightmares and it is coming true!

At least you won't have to worry about finding a place for Major. I know the extra income has been nice, but that is one less thing on your plate. I would tell them that if they have any reason they need to be gone that you are willing to step in. I know that this is disappointing, but it really isn't that big a surprise is it? Hey, I'm sure that she can't stop you if you want to go once in a while to pet some of them.

I kind of saw this coming! Last summer we had 5 horses move to a different stable with two months! Reasons were the area, the indoor had to much hay in it and it had become to small! Duh! you want your horse fed or not? One woman moved her 2 horses because she kept complaining about everything! No matter what we did, this woman was not happy! We were glad to see her go! So I saw it coming but tried to ignore it! I still have a job for the next tow weeks though! She did tell me that yesterday! I still think there is a change I can continue at some degree in the near future! Pam is always been nice and she has so much stuff on her plate and is very, very disorganized with her time,She probaly will be a need for me! I hope so! It wil suck not having that extra income!

There are a few other stables around. If I do for sure lose my job at the current stable I will look into that. I rather find another job around horse and fits my schedule then trying to find another part-time job in some other field!

The story continues! In May of 2011 one of the boarders and her husband took out a lease on the stable. Good news! By the summer I was doing the morning feedings on the weekends and filling in when needed on other days. Then in May of 2012,the boarder Emily ,who was leasing the place, tells everyone her husband got a promotion at work and that meant they would be moving to Alabama! They did a few weeks ago and took their 4 horses whith them! My hear sank! Luckily another boarder took over the lease June 1,2012. I have been feeding out casually. Theresa is her name and I have helped out when they went to horseshows and I will be feeding later this month out at the stable. I am still worried the place will still go under! Besides Emily moving her horses down to Alabama,we lost two in May when their owners took them out to Vermont becasue the dad got a job out there! Plus in the past month we lost 3 more boarders! For 3 different reasons! Anyway I am worring about something I can't control! If the owners of the stable had any money sense these would not be happening! The husband is an idiot with money! He is the whole reason this all started!

I pray that you will get something to do to replace the job you just been let go from. Be patience and pray to god that this will go well with you. As for the owners, you cannot do much since all the economic problems are happening around the world and nobody is spared in one form or another. They have done all the best that they can do in their situation. We don't know their actual conditions, We can only hope that they can recover and thing can go back to normal. Again I pray that you can get another job that is similar or better that the previous one.

I have not lost my job yet! if I do it won't until the end of this month! Since this has happened I will talk to the owner to see if I can stay on and two feedings a week. The ones I do on the weekends. If not I will go looking for another part-time job at another stable. With the owners some of has to do with the economy and some of it is their fault! Pam loves to let people work off some their board! She is always borrowing money from her dad! She has been looking for a job but it is hard for her to find one with one kid in school all day the other goes in the afternoon for now! I do know some of the situation and it isn't good!

Right now I am not really worring about the situation. I will deal with it when I need to! Right now I am more concern about my health right now! I don't think it is anything bad but I'm going to get it checked out! By the end of the month I will know if I lost my job or not. I will see if I can continue with doing the feedings on the weekends! We'll see!

One of the problem with these people is they are awful with money and I know she has been borrowing money from her father, the owner I mean! With the businsess's the husband alot has to do with the economy. It is quite a mess and I don't see it getting better anytime soon!

I am so sorry to hear that you have loss your part time job as a stable hand due to the owners having money worries. There is a recession at the moment and it is sad that you and some other people are losing their job. It will be awful if the stable closes down and all those horses have to move to a different yard. You could be helping the owners manage their money but they are doing it there own way. I know that the owners will be way too busy with no stable hands to clean out the stables and feed the horses. I hope that you will find another part time job that will be ideal for you. Good luck.

Oh Blue, I am so sorry to hear this! Jobs are so hard to find right now. Don't the people that board their horses there pay the owners for taking care of the horses? What if they just raised the fees a bit for all the boarders? Maybe thats not possible? One thing that is good is that they gave you a little notice. Some employers just shut their doors without warning. If I were you, I'd be looking for another job starting today. Good luck, Blue.

I don't know if the board will be raised. If it does I think most of the boraders would leave. Pam ,the stable owner, told me she might see if the boarders could pay for their own horses hay and grain beside the board it might help. I don't see that helping! Back in September when I gave up some of my feedings so she could save money for and she's do those feedings, she rarely has! She has another boarder do most of those feedings! Not to mention there are 5 other boards who split up the night feedings, who work off some of their board! So Pam has been digging herself into a hole for awhile! Her husband,on the other hand, owns tow resturants and a bar. They have suffered to the lousey econmony! So the resturants are for sale. One,for now,is being leased out. The bar is being leased out. So it was more then one person's fault! It still sucks! They should get financeal help which they should of gotten years ago! I hope the stable stays afloat! If it goes under the boarders will get enough notice. That I can guarentee!

It's hard that your livelihood is dependent on other people, and not just your own efforts. But that's the way of things with most jobs. Sorry to hear that though.

Ya it sucks. Alot of this could of been avoided if the stable owner wasn't so nice and told everyone they could work off some of their board! Like with feedings and cleaning their horses stalls! The economy didn't help with the husbands places either!
