bad english on websites

I have been finding a lot of websites claiming that you can make money on the internet then when you read what is on the page there are heaps of grammatical errors on the webpages so obviously these websites are not made by people that have English as their first language. I keep well away from these sites after all if they aren't in proper grammatical order they mustn't be legit and could be out there to scam it's potential users. There is another site that is about hyips and has a picture of a male person with hair that hasn't been combed now if he was making lots of money doing this he could afford a comb to make his hair tidier. Some things don't add up. What do you think?

Yes, bad English is usually the first thing I check for to see whether a site or an email from a supposed company is a scam or not. If I see bad English, then that is it, I am gone! The unfortunate thing for many people in non English countries is that they may be legitimate, but they are definitely unprofessional if they cannot at least hire someone to get the English right!

Well. Sometimes, in our country, if we narrate things in good language, people understand things the other way. So, we have to consider their standard too. In my website, I tried to keep the language simple and clean as well. Yet, since the developers are not good at English, they do some mistake somewhere which remains unnoticed for a long time.

HA!! I have found the same thing. It is a definite red flag!! It is kind of annoying, isn't it? Where are all the honest companies? I am tired of scams...and I think these people actually sucker others in. grrrr.

I don't know about the honest companies. Wouldn't a reputable company or a legit company have editors for their webpages and a proper graphics designer or something like that? These websites obviously don't so any of these sites being legit is very slim.

The really hilarious ones are those where they copy from a (probably) legit site then use totally inappropriate synonyms to cover their tracks. Or they go to Freelancer and pay 50c per 10000 words to wrestle in keywords - with no knowledge of what stop words are. Never mind, the worse sites like this are, the higher up the rankings my own bee-yoo-ti-fer-lee written articles rise, much to the joy of my clients. here's one of my favourite sites. I like to play "guess the original synonym" with this one: http://antiques-collectibles-auction-news.com/2011/03/17/release-rare-sundial-once-used-to-grow-strawberries-expected-to-realise-over-7000-at-christies/

Well. Most of the times, it's true. But, here in my country, English is not our first language. There is no option to make a website in our language. So, we are compelled to use English. Sometimes, this kind of judging may not work on our country's sites. (To add up, I launched a website for my business. Unfortunately the developers here are not good at English. I find it very hard to educate them not to make spelling mistakes and blunders. Very rarely, a mistake made by these developers has escaped my notice. AND, their office is far away from my workplace. I can't tell them over phone to point out a mistake. It is also very hard to communicate through email, as they don't understand what I mean. Every time I have to go their office, sit with them and make corrections. Till that time, the mistake just stays on the website.)

You might have a point here, and you are right those websites may definitely be owned by people who speaks other language as their primary dialect in their own country. Though you may have a right to suspect them of being a scam, however, it is not their fault that they are not good in English construction. They're putting up their websites to promote their online earning sites so you can't blame them. They just wanted to earn money and maybe they don't want to fool others by doing so. On the other hand, you and I or anyone else might be someday be scammed by a website who is properly put up and have a lot of articles that are very well written. You might not know. Earning online are very well open to everyone and we all have equal chances to earn here. And the strategies we used differ from one to another. Just my opinion. Have a nice day.

Hello nobbsy123, What sort of web pages ? The most stable earning sites are in Europe -- myLot is an exception, but we cannot call myLot an "earning site", though we can discuss about them here --, and their admins often speak a broken English. I do not know why I would not trust somebody who does not speak well my own language -- I am French -- if he is credible and has a good reputation online. In my opinion, a broken language cannot permit to detect a scam. And by the way, all HYIP are working on Ponzi schemes and are potential scams, never mind the English.

I have also found many sites with bad grammar and spelling mistakes and i usually keep away from them but i also think that some mistakes can happen from anyone, so is it a good idea to judge the the legitness of a site based upon the english they have on their site

most of the money making platforms on net are scam sites. Many sites offer up to 60% reduction in purchase of their software and they give some proof. But no comments from its users. They are really scam sites. Now any one can make a website that is why quality of many websites fell down to below average.
